Many here just live their lives and haven't gotten vaccinated. I was dumb and got the Johnson & Johnson and since everyone including the teens and kids now need boosters of the vaccines you originally received. The J&J recipients can get which every vaccine they desire mix and match. So trying to decide what to do. Since age 75 now I am not sure I trust the vaccines. So far they haven't done what our government said they would do. Many breakthrough cases of Covid in the vaccinated. Now the Omicron very confusing? Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,

Recent research indicates that you might be better off if you get the Johnson & Johnson booster. It produces more T-cells than Pfizer or Moderna, which offer more protection against emerging variants than antibodies. And T-cells last longer than antibodies.

Huge excellent article. I got the J&J back in March so it's more than two months since the shot. I figured it was totally out of my body now. Is the article stating it might not be and that the more time between the doses the better. Bringing up age again since all the females in my family died of a blood clot or stroke and Father's side one time heart attack. It's been the blood clots that caused J&J to be paused in April that concern me. So with that said would you go for this J&J again? Neither myself or husband even had a sore arm as a reaction. Thanks so much Phillipa

Getting a second shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will give you a big boost in antibodies and an even bigger boost in T-cells, which stick around in the body far longer than antibodies. And people who've received a second shot of J&J or have gotten a first shot of the Pfizer vaccine and then got boosted with J&J lose their antibodies at a slower rate; and a J&J booster produces twice as many T-cells as a Pfizer booster.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/05/health/jj-booster-pfizer-study.html

There is a very small chance of developing blood clots after receiving a Covid vaccine, but a Covid infection increases the chance of developing blood clots in the brain 8-10 times more than vaccines. With the J&J vaccine, it's women under 50 who were warned about the small possibility of blood clots.

Quote:

The FDA updated the J&J Janssen vaccine EUA with an additional warning, noting that "women under 50 should be made aware of a rare risk of blood clots and low platelets following vaccination," said Dr. Fryhofer. "They also need to know there are other COVID vaccines out there that dont pose this small risk."

I had immunization with two shots of the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine. I may receive a Moderna boost at the end of december since we are kind of running out of biontech. What is the word about that combo?

Pfizer recipients saw antibodies increase 32-fold after receiving Moderna compared to a 20-fold increase after a third Pfizer shot. Recipients got a 12.5-fold boost after J&J.

But antibody levels decline at a slower rate in people who've received a J&J booster, and the J&J booster produces significantly more T-cells than the mRNA vaccines.

i've gotten all my vaccine shots, covid shot, booster shot, all of them. I was forced to get them, i'm a antivaxxer because i know they use part of the cornavirus to make thw vaccinee, but i was obligated to have the shot, In US we are now easier on masks, you can go in many places now without a mask. It's better than the first wave that happened, with major infections in hospitals and overloaded with covid cases. The first wave of covid was the worst here in the US. 'I can't breathe' was said many many times by people infected with covid. There frequently are new varients of covid, it seems there's mutations and keeps mutating. The new varient that's out is defeintly to be taken seriously. It's not as bad as the first wave when hospitals were overloaded with patients. This virus keeps mutating, and taking diffrent forms and charasterics.

forgot to put i was forced, if i live at this place that required vaccine, if not vaccine - then it's the highway, live somewhere else. So, I complied and got all the vaccine. There's speculation that the coronavirus is used in part of the vaccine, all these conspiracy therppies it's part of population management. There's tons of therories, but i am an anti vaxxer, but i was forced, if i didnt get it, it's the highway

Hugh had forgotten it was in the younger females that the blood clots formed. So you feel the strongest booster for me due to age and fact that had a J&J is another one? Are you in the USA? As not sure they are using the J&J in either Lancaster County SC or over the border 5 miles from me in NC? Phillipa

I got my third Corona vaccination today; it was the Pfizer variant.

The second shot I got was also Pfizer, but the first was Astra-Zeneca.

You received an excellent combo. Yesterday's announcement about the efficacy of a Pfizer booster for the omicron variant is very encouraging.

Yes, I'm in the US. A J&J booster will probably last longer than a Pfizer or Moderna booster. Any of the three vaccines will greatly decrease your chances of being hospitalized with Covid.

This site will tell you where each vaccine is available:

> Hugh thanks but why J&J for me and you seem to feel the mRNA ones are superior? Phillipa

For most of the past year, most people thought the mRNA vaccines were superior to J&J. This is because the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines produce more antibodies than J&J. Now J&J is getting more respect because getting two shots of it appears to be just as effective at preventing severe illness as Pfizer and Moderna. While J&J doesn't produce as many antibodies as the mRNA vaccines, the antibodies it does produce last longer. And a J&J booster produces far more T-cells than mRNA vaccines, and T-cells last far longer than antibodies, and might be more protective against emerging variants.

Since you've already gotten J&J and tolerated it well, chances are that you'll do just fine with a second dose of it. But you'd probably do just fine with a Pfizer or Moderna booster. They're all good vaccines and whichever one you choose will make you much safer.

How likely is it to get myocarditis? How much time after the vaccine could you get it? When are you cleared for strenous exercise?

Aren't you in Germany? I only know that myocarditis occurrs rarely in younger males they claim. What they tell us here is it's mild but not sure I believe what we are told anymore. What information are you telling you there on all the vaccines?

I don't know. It's real. As is the virus and its consequences. AZ is not at all effective against Omicron at 4 months which is where many of us are, just as everything is opening up for Christmas. Perhaps it will be fine and we can do things outdoors.
