Hi Gang

Posted by Greg on February 7, 2004, at 2:31:45

Just wanted to check in and see if everyone is doing OK. I'm surviving, but as usual if life was played like the game of golf, I'd take a mulligan. I have my first interview in over a year and a half on Monday, and my anxiety is thru the roof. I've done my homework though and I'll be as ready as I can get.

Shar, I hope you got the email I sent you a week or two ago. I remembered you saying you were having some problems with your IP. Let me know if I need to resend it.

I don't know if anyone has heard from Gracie, but I *think* I *might* know where she is. I'm getting to know a person at another site who is very familiar. But of course I could be off base. I'll let you know either way if I find out, I know many of you are very concerned.

The family is doing well. Mary just got a promotion at work (way overdue), NaShay is working 25 hrs a week as a daycare provider for the Livermore School District, and Brandon has a part time job as a busboy at a local country club as soon as he turns 14 in April. Alyssa is getting big and talking, and gets prettier every day :).

Well, that's about it for now. I hope you all are doing as well as you can.

Love to all,
Greg

Greg!

So good to see you.

Hey, I understand the anxiety of the interview, but just remember to take those deep slow breaths and you'll be great.

We have missed you and worried about you around here, as you may know.

Congrats to Mary on her promotion! And your kids are sounding good. Don't take the mulligan--you've done very well by your kids--they sound great. Remember that poem, attributed to Emerson (perhaps erroneously), about success?

I'll try to get a copy and post it here.

I am so HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY to see you I could cry.

Consider yourself hugged.

Here is the poem traditionally attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson. I got it from a web site that discusses the authorship and versions of the poem that are similar but with some differences that seem to suggest who the real author might be. If you're interested, the site is at: http://www.rwe.org/pages/in_pursuit_of_the_truth_of_Success.htm

But I still like this version the best:

Success

To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

Hey ((((((((((GReg)))))))))))))))))

What a delight to see you. So much is going well in your life -- it's easy to "not see" that when the anxiety claws are around your throat. Do whatever it takes to help you get to Monday. You'll get through Monday on your own --- knowledge, experience, personality, talent, and all of the other wonderful things about you!

Hugs,

Coral

Hi, Greg!
I did get an email from you about 2 weeks ago, and would appreciate any word you might have on Gracie. I have an account at yahoo for shar_from_babble if this one goes down. Plus, the other one I told you about.

BEST of LUCK on your job interview Monday! Wow, I'm excited for you, and I hope it will go very smoothly. Hooray for being selected to interview! After a dry spell, even that can feel great!

Congrats to Mary for her hard-earned promotion; I hope y'all get to celebrate a little.

I had a bad fall Thursday, and got a big sprain on my ankle--wow! That can hurt a lot. I know it's not broken because I broke my arm once and it doesn't hurt that badly. I'm using a chair as a walker, and mostly laying down in one of the two comfortable positions I can find. Getting to the computer isn't normally a chore, but right now it's a lot of hopping! My right leg is getting quite a workout. I'm aware of how much I took walking for granted...

Again--best of luck on your interview!

Congrats to your wife and to your kids. And a much bigger congratulations to you, on your interview. If you need a cheerleader, please let me know. I'm actually a quite good confidence coach -- for everyone else, at least -- so if you think you need a gentle shove to remember how great you really are, let me know.

I've tried to email you a couple of times, but haven't heard back. If you still have my email address, drop me a line, wouldja, so I know I have the right email address for you, 'K?

My husband has one of his first interviews in two years coming up in a couple of weeks. It's one of the major stresses in my life, selfish as that sounds, because this company has literally been stringing him along since September of 2002! Every couple of weeks, they tell him, "We should hear late next week..." At least, this is finally a solid date and time for an interview, so it's likely something will finally happen.

Me? Well, I could tell you all about it, but this isn't about that right now. It's about how glad I am to see your name on a post here, and to know that you're all right. I have been worried about you, and I have been hoping for you. I hope that knowing that, from this time forward, may give you a little comfort.

Bless you, Greg.
