Fingers laced so casually
Like entwined roots submerged
Beneath the sweet soft soil
Grown comfortable in their embrace,
A reflex as natural as drawing breath
As the couple lounges on the bench,
Each half drawing nourishment
From the warmth of this small
But colossal confirmation
Of the presence of affection’s redemption,
Of the banishment of loneliness
And its airless purgatory,
Of contact that feeds
And sustains lovers
Just as soft spring rains
Bring fresh green shoots
From even an ancient gray tree’s branches
And refute winter’s angry storms,
Season after season, year after year.

Once again, I can imagine singing this. It is so fluid.
Thank you Atticus, made my day.

Hullo, luv. You're very perceptive. I've been thinking a lot about Bob Dylan lately. I essentially see his best songs as poems that are sung, and that approach to writing has drawn me to write poems that are essentially lyrics in search of songs. I wish I could compose music to make the pieces complete. Ta. Atticus

Hi Atticus. I really appreciated that you should say I am perceptive. This is a huge compliment for and to me!
I remember from previous posts just how much Bob Dylan means to you. (I am remembering 'Blowing in the Wind' right now).
I have recently become quite intrigued with a very gothic style of singing and these words just fitted so perfectly into songwriting that I could not do, but a song I could certainly sing. And you love Nirvana too! Perhaps you shall be my songwriter some day :)
