I figured something out.

Posted by ClearSkies on August 29, 2005, at 21:14:43

I cried at why
I didn't "get" the AA meetings
why they made me want to run
as fast as I could
to a liquor store
and hide myself behind
bottles
in all the colours of the rainbow
a complete spectrum
completely hiding me
from all the scary people
I saw at the meetings

Then
I saw. My eyes closed, and I saw
the women
and the men
I knew already.
The men
some drunk
remorseful
crying
angry
grateful
saying the right words
going through the motions
...all reminded me of my dad.
Dead at 53.
I changed his sheets when he cr*pped in them
I called the office when he didn't come home
to see if he had slept there
I called the bars for him
to see which one he'd left his car at
the night before
or the night before that.

and the women at the meetings
were the women
that my dad introduced to me
at 3am
"this is your new mom"
pleeeeesdtameetcha liddlemissy
Get the hell out of my room
Oooh she's got a temper that one

That's why
I ran from the meetings
to the rainbows of the bottles
so I could hide
from my father
that my mother left me
to take care of.

That's a huge thing CS. How does knowing that feel, if it's okay to ask?

(Sorry Susan but I'm going to borrow one of your specialties under licence here, you can send my the bill later.)

I think you deserve a big MMMWWAAHH and (((((CS))))) for that.

It feels likes I'm the light bulb that goes on when you open the fridge. Occasionally bright, but when the door closes, who can tell? I understand why I have my hands clenched when I try to go to meetings, though.
Thanks for the patented Damos-hug. And the smooch - back at you.
CS.

It just occurred to me that I'm more like the microwave. When the light's on and I'm humming, something inside is being nuked.

Sounds like we need a dimmer switch to get some balanced lighting! They hum, too; but not as loudly as a microwave.

ROFLMAF! Trust me, if there's one thing I don't need, it's a switch to make me even dimmer ;-)
