Tapering Med Method..Does It Work?

Posted by BUCKEYE FANATIC on March 5, 2006, at 20:54:17

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has tried the method precribed on the following websight:

http://www.theroadback.org/

I havnt myself, but when I decide to reduce and/or discontinue my Meds, I just wondered if these techniques are old news or perhaps a solution.
Any input would be helpful.

Zoloft and Xanax are the meds I am currently taking.

I looked at the web site but did not see
any specific reduction rate program for
benzos -- only that they are difficult
to withdraw from.

I can tell you from my own experience that
I successfully withdrew from XANAX with
relatively little pain - insomnia, nervousness,
panic, sensitivity to noise, etc. But it
was bearable. I was taking X for about 10
years (i think), at a very low dose 0.50 -max 2.50
-3.0 and had become addicted.

I reduced the dose over 3 months from 1.50-2.0 to
0. As I recall I reduced decrementally every
week.

But of course you should have good reasons
to reduce and check with your. dr. I did.
