Effexor XR

Of you who have successfully weaned off of this medication, was the taper dose conducive to daily funtioning for a full time student? I ran out about 3 weeks ago and after a couple of days, I felt as though I were losing my mind. It was awful!

Of those of you who took Prozac to wean off, did the symptoms lessen any? Do you still take Prozac instead? Effexor does not seem to be working for me anymore anyway. My mood is flat and normal excitors (for me anyway) don't work. That's not me! Prior to beginning this med., I was relatively happy, just experiencing some health probs. and Dr. suggested taking this for awhile. I am tired more easily and don't feel good about anything.

Can the meds. change brain functioning in a negative way? Wish I'd have known this before beginning the meds.

Thanks.

Did you taper or just run out? Every one is different, but when I was advised to just stop taking it I could not function as a normal student. I could hardly stand up, let alone go to lectures and concentrate. But I am tapering now and I am funtioning ok. Infact I'm slightly more alert now that I am on a lower dose.
