This weekend I attended a conference about substance abuse, for women, run by Hazeldon. I was there last year and won the "prize" for being the attendee with the shortest sobriety time (5 days). I relapsed many times after that until getting to a real Sobriety Date - August 20th.
I cried when I saw the caring and compassion that the women in the room had for each other. It was heart warming and hopeful.I don't think much about my sobriety at the moment, except to respect it; and I remain very much in awe of it. I feel so much better these past 9 months. The reduction in depression and anxiety is quite marked and the improvement I feel overall is unquestionable. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself. (Just trying to encourage others who are trying - it is so worth the journey!!)
