I wanted to finish my draft by March 28th so that I could edit and polish before giving to my advisor on the 2nd. I've already got some 80 pages, and much of it is formatted and everything. I've written Ch. 1-4 and half of 5. Now I only need to finish 5 and write 6.
6 should be easy because that's where I get to b*llshit and speculate and lay out my "fake" plans to do follow-up studies and crap like that.
no need to mention that the prospect of doing another study makes me nauseous at this point. I just have to fake it, according to T. pretend like I'm going to write it. At least if I have it written it will seem like I'm not terrified of the future. hmph.
so, to celebrate being more than halfway done, I'm going to take a half-day off tomorrow. lunch at my favorite restaurant and then an afternoon of shopping with my husband and his sister.
((((cat))))
has been sleeping curled at my feet for about 80% of the dissertation. I don't want to disturb her, so I don't get up that often. I think that must help. That and klonopin. Everytime I get really freaked out I realize that it's been about 24 hours since my last dose. time for another one.
gnight all.

Good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun!!!!!
It is funny since I have been is school and studying, which I do in bed mostly, I am my cat's new best friend. But instead of being at my feet, he wants to be next to my head, on top of my book. Then he rolls around and stretches if I don't pay attention to him. LOL It is a good thing I am drugged up on antihistimines!
Hey how about our warm weather! :-) Take care!

Now that's how you write a dissertation! Just get it done!
Have a great afternoon off, then get back to work. You are in the homestretch now!

Hi All,
I enlisted the help of a "research assistant" (husband) to hunt down articles for meand an editor (my mom) to find all the places where I switch from active to passive and past and present tense in the same clause.
Santa Clause.
he's the only clause that matters.
I have given myself ample time off. unfortunately I think I injured one of the nerves in my hand. I fell asleep in the car for an hour and my torso weight and the massive head of a llurspedNoodle was resting on my hand that was twisted up origami style.
my self-diagnosis on the internet says cubital tunnel syndrome (I have a lot of elbow problems from violining too many years)
or the other one guyon canal.
basically my pinky finger fell asleep and hasn't woken up really. ice helped. I'm gonna spilint my elbow and wrist tonight and took anti-inflammatories Good thing 90% of the typing is done. Now it's just making the 10,000 editorial changes to catch all th e booboos i gfound in my reading today. I've got 85 pages and not all of it is crap.
but my personal deadline is to be done with the draft by tuesday.
pssst don't tell anyone (I haven't finished analysing all my data yet. I just kinda wrote in a paragraph where it needs to go. something like this "The data was analysed using the HELLisH Model for logrithmic mixed model survival counts (just joking-my variables are nice and friendly!) and I found a significant effect of ____ (p<.001) and la di dah. Thus, the presence of okra signficantly affects the goopiness of gumbo. There was no significant effect of gumbo filé on the texture of the sounp. However there was a significant two-way interaction between ingredient and viscosity, such that adding more okra increased the viscosity more than adding an equivalent amount (3lbs per metric ton) of filé.
yeah. something like that.
i go rest my hand now.
love and smooches,

All I can say about the gumbo paragraph, is to be sure that you get it out the dissertation.
There is a notorious story of one author's reference section containing the citation "the blue book above my desk"! Hilarious stuff - well hilarious if you are writing a dissertation.
The hand will resolve I think.
Write write write write write, keep going!
You can do it!
After your defense, you can have a HUGE bonfire of all of your drafts.

Thank you for being my cheering section, Maddie.
my hand feels better. I got an elastic bandage at the drugstore and it helps support the tendons and cushion the nerves.
tomorrow I'm waking up at 7 am and going to a cafe to finish writing my experiment section. I just finished the data entry tonight.
Then I can make a rough draft of my discussion and revise it and meet my deadline of Tuesday 5pm to have a complete draft. (I won't give it to my advisor until the following Tuesday)
meanwhile I had the most wicked flashback I've had in months. knocked the breath right out of me and made me very unsure of myself for most of the day. I had to call back-up T (mine's on vacation) and introduce myself. She had good advice though, and I feel somewhat stronger.
now I'm off to bubble bath and bed.
nightynight.

I hope your hand gets better soon! Don't wear the brace to too much. My doc told me that the brace lets the tendons and nerves get use to the support and all that so then when you take the brace off, they're weaker and it causes more pain. She said to just wear it when I needed it.
I hope that the flashbacks get less, and easier to deal with ((((Llnoodle))))
You're almost there!!!
Have fun writing the cafe! They are the best places to study/write!
