A on my midterm

Posted by Poet on March 12, 2007, at 18:12:09

I need to brag: I scored 96 out of 100, the class average score is 87. I kicked butt. My overall grade for the class is an A. Hooray an A!

Sorry can I be highly dim here but what exactly is a mid-term?? And why do you bother to have them? Its pretty straight forward here - we take a module/class go to lectures/practicals then we sit an exam based on said module/class and then we get the overall grade for it (including any possible marks from coursework/practicals etc) and thats it.

I don't understand the American system - all this talk of GREs and SATs and mid terms and Spring Break and things like that. I've only worked out what a grad student is!!!! hehehe.

May I boast somewhat? Here in Finland we can *choose* when we sit our exams. Yes, thats right! Its great. But slightly dangerous too.

Meri, we get reading week. It's suppose to be a week where students can catch up on missed sleep and missed readings. It's also known as Anti-suicide week. For us it falls exactly half way through our semester. We had midterms (exams placed half way through the term) usually before and after reading week. We have them so our final exam isn't worth 100%. Sometimes we can choose when we write our exams. If the prof has them up on the computer in the computer exam lab, then we have a week to go there and write them.

I don't understand SAT's and GADs or any of that stuff either. We dont' have em up here!! I think just the law school exam, other wise everything is based off school marks

I know this sounds petty, but I am a perfectionist and somebody else in class got 98 out of 100 and I am jealous. Is that sad or what?

I had to laugh because I think the same way! I might get a 95%, a solid A, but then someone else will get a 99%, and I am like dang it! I have to get over this or someday it will get the best of me! ;-) I think I would die if I got a B. dramatic but true! lol
Congratulations Poet!~
