Spring Break, ya right! blah blah blah

Posted by Happyflower on March 10, 2007, at 7:54:50

Why do professors have exams when you get back from spring break? Is it to torture us?

To study or not to study, that is the question........ Whether to suffer the slings and arrows of not studying or to I forget the rest, but slings and arrows, ya that is it. Okay I am not making sense.

Why can't I just get drunk all week like all my much younger friends and spend the day at the beach in the sun all day and partying all night. uggghhh! I wish I could be irresponsible! So I guess if I want to get my usual A's I will have to study. I can't get A's if I don't, it doesn't come naturally, I have to work my frickin *ss off to obtain them. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know how you feel. I have final exams starting on 19th April. If I don't pass I won't be able to get a proper job for a year (UK system of appoining doctors means they only have new intake every August). I'm not looking for an A, just a pass will do (a pass for us is 65%, and A is 95%)

Good luck with your exams. I've been booking in something nice to do each week so I've got something to look forward to. This week it was going out for dinner, next week it's going to see an old friend.

Hi Happyflower,

My spring break isn't until April, but no partying on the beach for me, either. I did do spring break in Florida when I was 19 so I guess that counts. No, it doesn't I'm 49 and I need that beach way more now than I did then. Sigh.

Happy,

They call it Reading Week here. And it was 3 weeks ago. I don't understand why they put exams after reading week either. Tho, I didn't do too badly on my midterms after, and I did study (I guess I would be one of the younger classmates...). I only partied one night really...

Happy Studying

Gee

Hi Poet,

Yeah, you are sooo right! But being in school makes me feel younger, but I don't think I am cut out for the partying life. Oh, well, at least I am not killing off brain cells ! lol

LOL Gee! Well good job! I am impressed! If I was young again, I thinkI would really party myself out, because when you get older, it looks silly.

I've just got my job allocation (today!)and it's my first choice. Yay! We have to do 3 jobs a year for the first 2 years, I'll be doing 4 months in general medicine, 4 months in general surgery and 4 months in psychiatry.

I just have to pass now, I'll definately keep you updated.

Is that in the small historic town that is not so far from where you live now, and where I grew up? I don't want to mention it publicly if you don't want!! Well anyway I miss that small historic town like crazy! Will you live there?

Yes, that would be the one ;) I'll be living there, I'm not sure whether I'll be on site at the hospital or in the town yet, but I'll have a look at what's available before I decide. It's just 1000x better than getting placed in Grimsby or Scunthorpe, so I'm really pleased! I'll say hello to the small historic town for you if/when I go!

I mean, its even the names! Grimey and Scrumey. Anyway, I think one of my old school pals is/was doing medicine at Sheffield (she must be finished now!) got placed in one of those two places. Hmmmm.

Anyway, well the hospital isn't very far away from the town, its like a 10-15min walk if I remember rightly. I grew up on the Tadcaster Road area, and it was really nice looking back now. I won't be able to even look at houses to buy around there now!! Its slightly crazy. Its pretty nice everywhere really - certainly the 'dodgy' areas are pretty mild compared to the town you're in now.
