my decision, just except it will be okay

Posted by Happyflower on December 14, 2006, at 7:27:01

I have been struggling so much these last 2 weeks with being drugged up from my asthma attach and infection, I can't concentrate, I can't see the words because they are blurry, my head is fog-like. I have a take home part of my exam, and I have tried all week to say something intelligent about my different views of stuff like Nature vrs. Nurture, etc, and I have nothing, I can't remember the stuff, even reading it in the book, it feel so foreign.

I think under other circumstances I would get a note from the Doc saying I am too sick to take the test, and take it later. But it is the finals, one teacher is having surgury right after the finals and won't be available to give the exam at a later date, he did warn us, and the other teacher knocks off percertage points every day you go past the orginal date. Well I am steroids for another 5 more days and then I am out of town for almost a week. So I deceided to grin and bear it, take it, and hope for at least a B in one class and B or C in another.

The think I am concerned about it that these are the professiors that I need to do good for in the Pysch dept, and I was wondering if I should with one of the teachers in particular, tell her I am taking the exam anyways, but I have been extrememely sick and drugged up and I can't hardely read the words, so she doesn't think I was slacking off or anything.
What really sucks is if this didn't happen, I should be getting A's, not just settling for whatever happens, it sucks to have all the hard work messed up by the last 2 weeks. aauuuggh! I guess it isn't the end of my career.

It probably can't hurt to tell your professor what's going on. It helps me to remember that teachers don't always remember what grades students get - often (usually?) it's their impression of you as an overall student that matters more than one paper or one final. So try not to worry too much about this semester?

good luck!

Hi Happyflower,

Hopefully the professor will immediately see you are sick and let you take a make up exam. That happened to me once. I think the professor was afraid I'd contaminate the class with my strep throat.

I took my exam today and got the highest score ever 99%, with NO studying. WTF? The words were even blurry! But I missed my final grade of A+ by 1 point out of 700. So I am happy with my A, I am happy I learned a lot too, which is more important. I think the lower doses of prednisone is helping me a little, the brain fog is lifting.

Now I have the hardest test tomorrow, but I probably won't see my grade for a week. But after having Llupsie old kind of coffeedrinking habit, I should be up all night studying with no problem! **just kidding** LOL How many cups do you need to drink to stay up all night? anyone know?
Thanks all for you support, almost done!

But it is over! I don't think I did so hot on it, it was the hardest test I have EVER had in my life! My T told me that abnormal pysch is suppose to be one of the most fun classes. Well his was all multi choice tests , mine is essay, open questions, and dx of disorders. dang! I will be happy with a B in that class, it was so hard. But I will see, maybe santa will be good to me this year. LOL
Now off to packing and leaving in 5am in the morning! Good luck everyone else in everything!

Well done for getting through Happyflower (and for your fantastic score on the first test).

I'm still here until the 22nd, but thankfully no exams this semester, just written assignments. I definately feel like everyone has gone home and I'm still here - you're not alone!
