I have to study. I have to stop avoiding things. I just have to study, then I won't need to make myself sick.
I don't know if I can study enough...There's a lot of material I haven't even looked at.
I don't want to fail.
I think I have to make myself sick on Mon. I'll make myself sick on Tues. and Weds. too if needed.
This is a very bad way of coping, I know, but I'm desperate. I won't harm myself, I promise. I won't take enough to harm myself. I'll only take enough to make myself nauseous. I'll make it believable this time and won't cave in and say I made myself sick. I'm not doing what I did before. I promise.
Please don't be angry at me. I don't know if I can study enough. I just need more time.

Deneb, there's not a lot I can say that is likely make much difference, I don't think, but:
What are the consequences of making yourself sick and not taking the test? Failing the class? And what would happen then? You'd have to take it again. You may as well save yourself the time and take the test this week. So, uh, what's your study schedule gonna look like?
In fact, how do you set up your study times? Maybe talking about the process will help you improve?
Truly, Deneb -- much better not to avoid everything that's difficult. You've been struggling with motivation in school, and I think you've lost sight of what you're doing there: it's FOR YOU. YOU are the only one who benefits from being in school. So, studying is a form of self-care for you.
And self-care is important.

OK.
Lets break this down.
If you fake sickness / make yourself sick and don't take the exam, you *will* have to retake the class next year right?
If you study the best you can for the next few days (which you proved to us you can do really well last week) and sit the exam you either pass or fail. If you fail you retake the colass next year. if you pass, you don't have to retake the class.
Hmm. So one option you *definately* have to retake. One option you only *maybe* have to retake.
Without even going into the fact you probably will pass, and that you can study brilliantly and have a brilliant mind, one option looks like a much better bet to me ;)
Deep breaths and do something good for you today Deneb.. something you find nice and soothing. Then tomorrow, set your alarm, get up and go to the library. Try to remember how good you felt last week when you managed to do it.
We have faith in you, I promise

I won't have to re-take the class if I get sick for the exam. I'll have to take the exam at a later date.
Big breath...I'm trying not to freak out...
Step 1: Go to the website where my class notes are....click on "notes". <big breath>

Hey you did it last week and once it is over then you don't have to do it again if you put it off it is still there.
Is it pass/fail or levels of a pass?

I don't want to make myself sick. I need to study, but I'm not sure I have enough time to study everything.
I can't get studying! I'm getting desperate. I wish I could see my pdoc about this. She's away for three weeks.

Deneb then get off pbabble and study. Take breaks. And as long as you are on your meds as prescribed you will do fine. You don't need to make yourself sick. Love Phillipa

> I don't want to make myself sick. I need to study, but I'm not sure I have enough time to study everything.
But you DO have time to study something. NO ONE has time to study EVERYTHING in the week before an exam. So, if one wants to do well on an exam, one studies throughout the term, and reviews it all in the week before the exam. And, if one hasn't studied throughout the term, one breaks down the studying in the week before the exam and does as much of it as one can without going nuts.
You're better off doing most of the studying NOW, and not the night before, because you'll remember it better. Over on Students -- where this thread belongs and will likely be moved -- I will post some suggestions for you for studying.
>
> I can't get studying! I'm getting desperate.OK, so, why not? Probably because instead of looking at what's in front of you, you're running over all the "I can't do this" "I have to make myself sick" ideas. So, start off by saying, "OK, Deneb, I left this to the last minute, and there's nothing I can do about that now. I can't go back in time to fix it, so I won't worry about that -- I'll just do what I can." And then DO IT.
See, until Mr Peabody shows up with the Way Back Machine, we can't undo our earlier decisions. We just have to live with the consequences of those choices we've made. Learning that will make a big difference in your life, Deneb. Practice it here.

You're absolutely right Racer. I just have to study what I can. That's what I'm going to do.
I'm at the library right now. This morning I was desperate and I took something to hopefully make myself sick. My Mom gets really sick on it. I went to health services, only to find out from the receptionist that I have to be sick on the actual day of the exam. So now I've decided to study and just get it over with. I'm glad I took only one of the something and not 2. I hope I don't get sick.
Dr. Bob, I'm not making light of self harm here. I wasn't harming myself, not really. I didn't take enough to cause harm.
I'm going to study now. I'm going to stay at the library until I've gone over all the material once. I'm going to stay as late as it takes. The library closes at 2 am. Tomorrow I will wake up early and do the same. On Weds. I will do the same and on Thurs. I will wake up early and study until 1:30 pm for my exam at 2:00 pm.

I finished 2 out of 12 sections. I'm hungry, I'm going to go take a short break to eat. (Thank goodness I didn't get sick...I guess I tolerate meds much much better than my Mom.)
