I am in college and I can't get myself to do any work. It is sooooo frustrating!!!! I want to do work, but every time I tell myself I am going to sit down and do it, nothing ever gets done. This has gone way beyond my normal procrastination. I am so afraid I am going to get suspended....
Please help!!!!!

Hmm. I think that that is a common complaint, but I am not sure how bad the situation is. I need a deadline to work to. Something that I have learned this year is that even academics are last minute kinda workers (mostly) - nothing changes!
But then, once again, I am not sure how bad the situation is.
If I try to get into something when the deadline isn't close enough I b*gg*r around and don't really get any of it done. When the deadline is TOMORROW on the other hand then it gets done come hell or high water.
All I can say is that the first half hour of getting into it is the hardest.
If you find something that helps please let me know!

Pediddle,
What you need to do is make a starting line and pump yourself up, go to the starting line, and say on your mark get set go!!! And run to your homework and do it as diligently as possible for like an hour. Then take a break, then do that again.
Pediddle, I know how you feel. I am the worlds biggest slacker. I procrastinate, am not motivated, and avoid my work. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to get mad at yourself and yell at yourself. Just say: "I'm gonna do it!!!" I am here for you Pediddle. I am experiencing the same thing.

I have trouble with procrastination, too. One thing that occasionally works for me is to make myself work on something for 10 minutes only. I tell myself I can do anything for 10 minutes. Then, when the time is up, I can quit, or I can keep working. I often find that once I've gotten past that starting hump, I can keep working.
I also do the easiest stuff first, to get me going.
But I still struggle with it, too.
Good luck.
