Freud's obsession with sex and repression

Posted by alexandra_k on March 1, 2022, at 15:47:50

Was likely because of the role of sex abuse in driving the unhappiness and neurosis and pathology that he was employed to treat.

The husbands and fathers of the wives and daughters.

The repression was likely that the husbands and fathers likely wouldn't have paid Freud or allowed him to talk with their wives and daughters etc if they knew the kinds of things they were saying... Or the ways in which the wives and daughters needed to... Encode... Or mask... What was going on. In ways such that they could speak about things... Without really saying. Since saying would have meant further abuses for them.

Right?

That's likely why he saw sex as being the main or major driver. Because that was driving the husbands and fathers etc. The root of the pathology. What was behind much of the sickness and disturbance and unhappiness and suffering etc etc of his patients.

So he was required to... Insofar as he was allowed to talk about such things at all... Normalise them. Say that everyone had those desires or whatever.

It likely wasn't an expression of his pathology at all. Or, it may well not have been. It was more likely to be an expression of the pathology of the people who paid him, I suppose.

I don't remember if he was independently wealthy.

I don't know that that matters, so much.

The angry mob will do what the angry mob will do if you don't do what they want when they want because they want.

the nz government will not allow counselling

i suppose it is because they don't want the people talking.

they don't want the kids complaining that a particular person in their school is a sexual abuser / offender such that they end up with 30 or 60 or 100 or 500 reports, by kids, that so and so in their school is sexually abusing or offending.

they don't want that. so they won't fund counsellors. so they won't give kids access to counsellors. so they won't pay counsellors.

and then there's the sex offenders and physical abusers on the government payroll....

all over.

it seems to be a requirement to work for the government in any of the 'helping' professions. else, some kind of obvious demonstration that you will closer ranks around offenders and support and protect and help them at the expense of the people the whole thing is supposed to be about.

there's some anesthetist... i can't quite make it out or figure it out. she's very senior so i suppose she's more likely part of the present system than someone willing or able to think independently from it or of it.

she says that they are picked out from a very very young age and trained to think that it is all about the patients.

iindeed. of course they are. it is all about those patient-hostages that you have control over. right? it is all about your hostages. and about how if we don't do what you want when you want because you want then you will have to harm or hurt the hostages -- right? we made you do it. right? it's on us. right?

you want to debrief.

are you a psychiatrist now?

do you wnat to be a psychiatrist now?

you want your training intern anesthetists to tell you about their crimes... you want to hear tales of how they did x and y and z and they were sooooooo young and they know not what they do and they feel responsible for the death of the patient. they feel responsible. they feel responsible for having to chose to put under general an old person who was very frail so the orthopedic surgeons could get some building apprentice to practice orthopedics sawing off a femur... you feel responsible.

and how does feeling responsible make you feel?

your anesthetist psychiatrist would like to hear you debrief them how the patients death made them feel...

maybe even write an essay for their ethics class. abotu the ethical conundrum of htem feeling guilty or responsible or maybe even feeling a bit bad (sparkle sparkly gleam in the eyes)...

right?

because... you get to live out / express your pathology. right?

and you like 'em young. becuase they remind you of when you were young. right?

___

our system is abusive. why? becuase it's yet another system of abuse. why? because it is brought to you by the new zealand government. enough said.

__

there is no private sector, by the way.

they joke about how people can't tell the difference and are not in the position to be able to tell...

private 'healthcare' might get you nicer carpet and flowers in the receptionist area. the 'doctors' might be all 'yes sir yes sir' but none of that translates into actual competence.

they just won't do it.

they want 'yes sir yes sir yes sir' but the pathology that enables a person to look you in the eyes and say whatever you want them to say whenever you want them to say it on demand...

is the same pathology that will... split or splinter off to abuse others.

suck up... abuse down.

suck up.. kick down.

suck it up when dealing with your superiors... take it out on your juniors.

take all the rage nad so on you get from gritting your teeth towards your superiors... and take it out on your juniors.

____

it isn't a very... healthy form of interaction.

all because... well...

look at how people treat their juniors. look at the people who... will steal candy from a baby and think they are clever and think that the rest of the world would be doing it if only they had have thought of it first.
