Because you are too young.
I like his theological pessimism.....
One song has these lines
Bless the baby born today
Flying in pitch, flying on fear.

Brings to mind Dylan's
Oh little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously
Brags of his misery, likes to live life dangerouslyand therefore
Well, John the Baptist, after torturing a thief
Looks up at his hero, the Commander-in-Chief
Saying, "Tell me, great hero, but please make it brief
Is there a hole for me to get sick in?"
The Commander-in-Chief answers him while chasing a fly
Saying, "Death to all those who would whimper and cry"
And, dropping a barbell, he points to the sky
Saying, "The sun's not yellow, it's chicken"

There are some songs that I like. He seems like he's a musician's musician. Maybe?
While listening to Hamill, this was suggested. For a while I listened to this song a lot. Dreamy spoken word. Don't know if you care for her. Her first album is best, I think.

I dunno if you are interested, but he came from the most northerly part of Australia, east of Cape York, where it was in the past too hot for the white man (which now sounds strange just to say it, but that is how it was).
I can't recall (from the lyrics of Dajimirri) a more dignified and restrained resistance to what they went through.
It has been said that the influence of Methodist music was important to him.
New Zealand is different to and better than Australia. When the marriage equality bill was passed the entire parliament stood and sang the national anthem in the Maoari language together.

I think my husband has played him for me. Very soulful and moving. Do you remember the term duende?

I came across it recently. Perhaps reading about him. Something to do with a fading or softening?
That was recorded in Manhattan, I read.
He must have had a strange life. Born blind, described as a 'shy blind boy', with quite sharp opinions (I read), but disinclined to state then publicly, famous but died with inadequate health care, which is not uncommon with them.
He may have been the dummer on this.

Which also at the beginning features then PM Bob Hawke (pretty good by today's standards) who, I recall, was going to introduce an emissions control whatever it is or was called (one does forget) in 1988, would you believe.

I particularly enjoyed "Babylon Berlin". Just about as good as Moscow in 38.
