I am lucky enough to be living WAY south. Even though we've got our cold snap, it will be over tomorrow. I well remember living further north, and those months of shoveling. Runny noses. Air so cold you need a scarf to breath through it. Everyone, stay warm and safe. I am not gloating! The most severe weather, though, does not make me nostalgic.

You are welcome to the weather in NC as in teens. Never saw cold weather like this even when lived in CT?

Hi PC,
It's a balmy 2 degrees outside right now. Far warmer than the minus 18 of the last two days. I had job interviews two days in a row and yes, wrapped a scarf around my face like Randy in A Christmas Story. Another one today and another tomorrow. I'm hoping others don't show up because of the cold and I get the job by default. ;)

I like that idea! Poet gets the job by default. "She shows up!"

It sure is strange but already warming slightly here. I don't want any more vortex, thank you!

Im learning that a heat pump is not efficient in this cold...burrrrr..2 sweatshirts, long johns, 2 prs of sox, wearing all this in the house! I long for a little air tight home, with a gas furnace!

I'm lucky to have a gas furnace, but dread what the energy bill will be. I feel like taking my lizard's heat rock and using it as a hand warmer, but that would be cruel. Though she has a heat lamp...

Yes, you guys blame all of this on us Canadians. :P
Try on -73C with the windchill!! lol. The sad part I feel about this weather, though, is for the homeless people. :( Never, ever take for granted living in a nice, war home or apartment. Most of us are just a paycheque or two from being on the streets.Jay

I hate to think of the ultimate tally in this weather extremity. I understand that shelters were working at emergency capacity. We have an enormous population due to our friendly climate.

Around some churches are open 24 hours a day and shelters that normally only allow guests in at night are open all day as well. There are volunteers to seek out the homeless and invite them to come in and get warm. I really worry about those who aren't found or refuse to go.

Warming trend on the way at least here. I have read that the temps here are colder than the North Pole & Siberia. Was on the weather Channel.
