I took in a stray cat a number of months ago and now my room is infested with fleas. This sucks. They crawl on me. It's buggin' me. I've been vacuuming regularly which seem to help get rid of them. I'm afraid that sooner or later I'll need to "bomb" my room. Does anyone have suggestions on the best way attack this flea problem? Powders? Sprays?

I went ahead with "bombing" my room with Rid-a-Bug fogger. Also, I sprayed the carpet. Die, fleas, die!

You need to put some long acting flea product on the cat like Frontline. It's a once a month application. It's sold over the counter now at walmart and pet supply stores. It's expensive but it really does the job and will keep them from coming back. It kills the fleas on the cat and flea eggs. I hope you and the cat are out of your room while the bomb is working! And be sure and open the windows and let the room air out before you go back in. And good for you for adopting a stray kitty!

Oh, me and the cat were out of the room when the fogger was working. I have my window open and fan running to air out my room. You're right in that I need to treat my cat, otherwise the problem won't go away. That's the next step. Thanks for your input! I can't imagine life w/o my beloved cat. His name is Bigboy.

I will second the Frontline suggestion....even if you use it every other month to save money...or less often than once a month during winter months when there are less fleas.
It really works and will give you peace of mind.

He was an outdoor cat until I took him in and officially adopted him. He was stray. Now he has a home. But he brought friends with him - the fleas. The fogger and spray seems to have worked as I haven't seen (felt) many fleas.

I call him Bigboy. He's really a great cat. I enjoy taking care of him.
