Where I live on the central pacific coast of the US, it is supposed to be our rainy season. It should be cold and wet. We haven't had rain for months. I don't know how it has been inland in the snow country. I doubt they could be having much precipitation, but I would love to be mistaken.
Our agriculture. I worry. And summer wildfires too. We do not get summer rains....
How is the season going for other areas?

Hello Beckett. Im on the East Coast,in the mountains. We've had an unusually mild winter so far.My hyacinths are coming up out of the ground,as they do in spring.Btw,Im a huge fan of Coldplay, and I notice you have their song Yellow in your signature. Fix U was a song of theirs that I used to listen to when I first came out of my breakdown. It was healing, and comforting. His voice is smooth as butter!

The La Nina came to Australia a few years ago and is winding down. We have had the coolest wettest period for decades. Some people believe this to be evidence that global warming is a left wing Marxist conspiracy with no basis in fact. Such people probably live in the city. The conservative thinking of country people here is tempered by the decade long drought not so long over and the anticipated one to come.
Does the La Nina/El Nino thing affect the west coast of the US? I think it is more the west coast of South America, but I am not at all sure.

Gadchik, I didn't know it was so mild in the East. I used to tell the blossoms to hide when I would see them come out too early in case some sleet would come and knock them down. But January is very early isn't it?
Btw, you turned me on to Coldplay. Until recently I posted under a different name. Yellow reminds me of many things, mostly my child, and through him the ability I have to love. I haven't really warmed up to their latest album yet, but that is o.k. because I adore two of their albums and that is more than I can say of most bands.

Sigi, I found this interesting. Seems to be true here. From last January.

I went off and read about weather. I remember when you posted about the flash floods. Yes? But then there were flash fires last year, too.
So. It is very dry here. We had unseasonably early rain, then nothing.
In Oct we had an eerie wind storm. Strong dry winds pulled the moisture out of the air and vegetation. Thank goodness there was no lightening.
Right now my nasal passages are soooo irritated. Excessively dry. Neti pots are not much relief.

central virginia and it's the weather is mild. Today it was warm and sunny like one of the first days of sping,it must have confused the birds because a red bellyed woodpecker was in the trees off my third story porch acting like it was time to find a mate and build a nest. I had a reflex responce to the sight and sound of this woodpecker thinking oh spring is here, next I said to myself hey wait a minute we haven't even had winter yet.

Here in NC inland buds on the trees and I've seen trees with blooms. Now at this moment the winds are strong and temp dropping to 20's tonight. And will be in 40's. So I think it's hit here. I was also thinking of birds and what mechanism tells them when to mate? Phillipa

Thanks gadchik :-). Sometimes I feel like such a silly mom, and he's still in grade school. But we do have some great conversations. But yeah. Years ago, someone advised that a mom's job was one of continually letting go. You think that's
true? That it is different for fathers?
