I've not heard of this item.
It doesn't make you nervous?
How much worse than a mobile phone is it?
I have resolved to spend the rest of my life looking for public phones.

Sigi, public phones are so annoying. You can never find one when you need one. If you do it might be broken. Plus they've been touched by lots of dirty hands! Mobiles are much better - I think you simply need a little technical assistance from a friend.

I'm stubborn. I resent the endless privatisation of public resources. I especially resent it coming from a Labor Government headed by someone with an overwhelming sense of his own virtue. In order to support this feeling I shall seek out public phones. To the extent it drives me nuts, I can send my resentment up the usual channels.

i think the only reason cities still install public phones is because they are a billboard for ads.
seems like it would be easier just to borrow a phone from someone else?

It *would* be easier, but like I said they make me nervous.
I've had 3 but my kids got hold of them.
Even thinking of them makes me nervous.
I have no effective anxiolytics.

Mobile phones are a bit like personal computers, Sigi. Once you've had one you wonder how you ever managed without. Same applies to the microwave!

The people I live with sneaked (you might say) out and bought one.
I'm hoping it sends out lethal rays and beams.
That's a thought....I could get brain cancer!
I might revisit the mobile phone issue.

I hope not! That would be bad. My microwave is pretty cool, it has a setting for everything.

Kurt Vonnegut said about his smoking
'Of course I am notoriously hooked on cigarettes. I keep hoping these things will kill me. A fire at one end and a fool at the other.'
I suspect he wasn't joking. He did try to kill himself.
He also said that he wanted to sue the tobacco companies for breach of promise because he was still alive.
He was a great man.

I love that, so funny. I actually LOLed (excuse the dumb expression).
This is the end of the thread.
