OMgosh, sid, me, too!
I literally grasp for the remote and desparately change the channel or leave the room. It's so awful. That d*** music.... They sure have made it effective, so maybe that's good, for donations, etc.
I hate, hate, hate it that "people" (and I use the term loosely) can do these things to these trusting, innocent creatures who completely depend on us/them to be their caretakers...it's sickening....
((((animals who suffer))))))

I can't watch them either. Poor little babies. And they love and trust us no matter what. Love Phillipa ps I can't watch the commercial with the lady and the goat where the goat cries on his Mother's grave.

I always feel a bit guilty about the fact that cruelty to animals tugs my heartstrings more than the "feed the children" commercials.
Factory farming is the worst. I went vegan after learning about that, but honestly didn't feel very good without meat & dairy, so I went back to it.

I'm a veggie. Not for that reason, but when I do think of the vibrations of fear that must surround animals going into the slaughterhouse or abbatoir or whatever the polite word is, it's horrible for me to think of it.

I suspect that one day, humans will look back with deep regret and shame at the way animals had been relegated to such status.
I feel, deep in my heart, that a sea change is coming. I hope I am around to witness it. I hope my little work at the sanctuary at which I volunteer helps in some small way to bring it about.
Seldom.

Me too! I've always wondered if I was the only one who had to change the channel on those things! Sometimes you've just got to protect yourself. I believe some people are just more sensitive than others. If I were to watch those things I would dwell on them endlessly. I figure I've just got to help out where I can, and in the mean while, protect myself from the pain of thinking about all the things I have no control over. Its one thing to be aware of suffering and doing something about it, its another to suffer along with them while accomplishing nothing. Just make your mind up to help when and where you can, but not to dwell on things that make you so upset you're of no use to anyone. That's my philosophy anyway.

I have 2 cats, one I raised as a kitten, the other one was abandoned, just dropped off, at my school. They have such personalities, really amazing.
I don't think I can take in more animals, but I have wanted to.
This is the end of the thread.
