I no longer want to be anorexic thin b/c of hair

Posted by Deneb on September 12, 2009, at 21:46:33

I want to grow my hair very long and the only way to do that is to be as healthy as I can be.

I just read about someone with an eating disorder who started losing her hair.

I want my hair to be as thick as it can be. I want my hair long, soft and full of shine.

I need to get healthier, eat more fruits and vegetables and walk. I need the nutrients for my hair.

I'm going to start using Nizoral shampoo once a week to stop flakes and also I've read that the anti-fungal in it also helps with hair growth.

I put jojoba oil in my hair to seal in the moisture. I hope my hair will be much longer at the next Babble Party. I don't want to impress people with how thin I can be. I want to impress you with my hair!

I hope a side effect of eating healthier and exercise would be fat loss, but I don't want my BMI to be below normal now. I need to grow my hair!

Hair is more rewarding to grow.

I don't care if people think it is weird. I want my hair very long.

Right now my hair is about 23 inches in length and the circumference of my ponytail is 9 cm or about 3.5 inches. I am hoping my circumference increases to 4 inches or more.

My hair is pretty healthy looking I would say, but I plan on taking care of my hair and making it even better.

I joined a hair forum and I'm learning lots.

Anyone else here have long hair?

Deneb enjoy your hair as when older can get thinner and not grow as fast speaking from personal experience. Your hair is lovely. Phillipa

I think I know which forum you mean. I love the styles there with buns and braids. I tried to grow my hair to terminal length a couple times but didn't make it-- the ends got too thin and I cut it. It's never been past waist. I'm growing now after having chin-to-shoulder length the past few years. I want to get it long enough to use hair sticks.

I want to grow my hair to waist first, re-assess and then maybe go for tailbone. I think really long hair is awesome, but I want to make sure I can take care of it that long before I grow it very long.

I'm going to start doing CWC (conditioner on the length, wash the scalp, conditioner all over).

I've read about hair sticks. I don't know how to use them yet though. How long does hair need to be before you can use hairsticks?

Are you a member of that forum too? I just joined there. I'm the one with black hair on a white shirt.

I'm just a lurker there right now. There are lots of YouTube videos showing different hair stick styles-- search for "bun hair stick" and you'll find them. Different wraps take different lengths.

I just tried to do a bun with a chopstick, it kind of worked, but slowly came loose. I don't think my hair is quite long enough. Plus my hair is really slippery so it is hard to secure.

Your hair is gorgeous! I think there's nothing prettier than shiny black hair.

I had my hair past my waist for several years. I could sit on it. But my hair is naturally extremely thick so it was very heavy. It began to feel like a noose or something. Complete strangers would come up to me and say, "Never cut your hair!" and I'd be like, "Okay complete stranger". Nothing was more liberating than when I cut my hair in a short bob. My head felt all light and everything. I now love having my hair just past shoulder length. You can do so much with it. Flip it up, flip it under, make it curly, make it straight, pull it back, wear it down. You can't do all that with long heavy hair. Not that I'm saying you shouldn't grow it out. This is just what I've learned.

Anyway, I've always said, if you want to get me talking, ask me about my hair. I'm bizarrely into my hair.

My daughter had the same experience with strangers actually crossing the street to say, of her gorgeous, red, long long curling hair:

"Oh it's SO beautiful. NEVER cut it!"

Same as you - perfect strangers - or actually imperfect ones!!! LOL

She cut it right off - about an inch long!!! She loved no longer being identified as her hair!
