This gets a little graphic further on, as one of the things I am talking about is to-wear-a-bra-or-not.
:-)I welcome input from everyone - guys also, & all ages. :-)
I'm 62.
I feel in about my 40's - which is a BIG improvement, because a couple of months ago I 'felt' 60!!
However, I am getting to look older. I've had numerous people (including son's friends) when they hear my age, say 'no way! I thot you were in your, maybe early 50's. But I've also had store people say, 'Seniors get 20% off'.
Sometimes I go to put on clothes that I have, & think "Jeez - maybe I'm too old to wear that".
I'm not a tiny bathing suit. And I wouldn't wear tight, short shorts, or really short skirts. An example is a straight skirt with a small slit at the hem in the back - about an inch above my knees. Part of me thinks "WHY would I even think about it???" Another example might be a blouse with a frill down the front (don't have one, but tried one on in store & vetoed it).
Also, I usually don't wear a bra. I am not large-busted at all & not saggy; the only reason I'd wear a bra would be to not have what my daughter & I call 'NST' - nipple-show-through - sometimes perhaps you can sort of notice (not see through, but shape). I asked my husband if he cares if we were in public & you could tell & he laughed & said No! LOL
I've never felt funny about it, but now I'm thinking, "Is it okay, at my age to dress like this?"
It feels really weird.
I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, or has any thoughts or opinions about these types of things??
Thx for any feedback. Kath

Kath hope this didn't come from my joking about a string bikini if so I profusely appogize. I never wore a bra outdoors until I gained weight. Now I wear one as brease size increased but if small would never wear one. First thing to come off after shoes when coming inside. Oh I would wear a bikini if not for the scars. But a higher waisted one. I say wear what you like? Whats wrong with a shorter shirt and any type of top you desire. Hey if you look good go for it!!!!! Only my opinion . Wouldn't wear teen gear though. Love Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,
No - it came after Lou's questions about the joke about the senior driving the car fast. He asked if it needed to be a senior in the joke.
I was talking there about coming to terms with being a senior & what does being a senior mean, etc.
I'd already been looking at - do I need to make changes Just because I'm 62!! I certainly don't feel like making changes!
So I thot I'd make a thread to explore that if anyone wanted to.
I guess I don't want to look ridiculous. But what does that mean, & why should I care anyway??? Maybe I'll just continue to be me; to wear what I like. I've never considered changing my behaviour. I like fun; I like being silly; I like driving fast; I like my son's heavy drum & bass live DJ music; I like hearing him perform 'live' at the clubs where the oldest person is probably 30. I have no intention of changing the way I behave at all for any reason. So I guess, why should I change what I wear?!
:-) Kath

When it comes to bras, I feel like, why should you feel ashamed of showing nipples? I mean, they're part of your body, why should you feel bad about showing them? Some people make a big deal about it, but who's to say what's okay and what's not? In medieval times it was scandalous to show an ankle. Do what you feel comfortable doing. I bet you look fabulous!!!

Hey T where the heck have you been? Seriously missed you. Oh if to me around here scandalous to show nipples. Got this kind of bikini from when lived at the beach black with rheinstones of lips on the butt. Kind of says kiss my you know what. Sometimes I'd love to wear it around here. The tongues would wag forever!!!!! Love Jan

Hi Kath,
The skirt & blouse sound fine. The fact that it's straight offsets the fact that it's a bit above the knee. I'd avoid the flared minis-- that just says teenage to me. Regarding the bra, I don't really need one either, but I appreciate the improved shape they provide. I'm also careful to avoid NST at work, but on weekends, not so careful. I find a dark colored shirt also helps camouflage.

> -T~ ~ ~ Thanks TC!!! Ya know a funny thing? I bet it would only be women who would mind it!!! I bet guys wouldn't think there was anything wrong with it.
What a weird society we live in eh? When you think of it, nipples are such a very small percentage of our body!!! Big deal if there's NST!! I wouldn't wear anything see-through. I wouldnl't feel okay about that, but that's not what I'm talking about.
:-))
Luv & hugs & hope you're doing well.
DH & I leave Saturday morning for our week away at this cottage:
http://www.thebrucepeninsula.com/opov/index.htmlI'm getting excited!!!! My son is really liking having his cute little house! By Gosh it's still tidy!!! CanNOT believe it. Went shopping with him today & he bought such healthy things!! I commented on what nutritious things/good choices he made. He said, "I told you that when I was on my own I was going to eat healthily!!"
He's an excellent cook - makes everything from scratch most times & takes great pride in it. So that's really good for his self esteem - his roommate & friends love his cooking.
Hugs, TC & thx for your support.

Thanks for your input, encouragement & support.
:-))
It's only in public that I care about.
And I am not drawn to 'teenage' type clothes.
I am going to make a real effort to just wear what I like. I sort of like the 2 tank-tops look anyhow, & I sure won't worry if there's NST if I have 2 layers on - too darn bad!! if there is.
:-)
When it became legal in Ontario for women to go 'topless' (!!) my husband & son were saying "YES!!" They were quite in favour of it.
I jokingly said, "Oh, good - now I can do it"
They both were pretendingly shocked, but they both said (& I can certainly understand why) that they would NOT want to be there. LOL
I wouldn't do it anyway & funny thing, I have not seen 1 female going without a top. At first (this was some years ago now) my son said that he saw a few girls topless - one at Canada's Wonderland, which is a huge rides park!!! LOL

>>I bet guys wouldn't think there was anything wrong with it.
I'll bet they wouldn't either! Most I know certainly would not mind ;-)
A well-timed, "hey, take a picture, it lasts longer," or, "What are YOU looking at??"" might be in order, though.....
Or maybe not :-)
Depends if one is enjoying the attention or not, I suppose. Which is perfectly fine.
I am not small, and going braless is waaaay out of the question, not to mention physically very uncomfortable. I hate it, mostly, and would happily share at least half of my portion with anyone who'd like it! Lol. Goes along with weight gain, unfortunately :-(
I do have trouble deciding how much cleavage is okay, too. I'm fairly modest, but not obsessed with covering up. Sometimes a top I really love just shows a little, (or is it "a little much?") and I'm never sure if it's an okay amount or not. Don't particularly want to send any messages I don't mean to send....
Sheesh. Men are lucky not to have to consider this stuff just to leave the house!! Lol.
I like your thread, Kath :-)

You know when was able to run was so glad to be a B. Big boobs would have literally been a pain!!!. No bigger so have to wear a bra. Used to ride bike before moved and no bra this guy in the neighborhood that was about 70 loved it and used to stick his arm up my shirt in a joking way. No wasn't abusive. Phillipa ps figured his thrill for the day and my husband knew didn't care.

Thx!! I like it that you like my thread :-)
I'm surprised no guys have given input! Maybe it's a leeeeetle too - well, not sure too what?!LOL
I'm happy with being about an A+ My Mom was DD and had back problems, etc.
My daughter is about A+ or B. Both her maternal and paternal grammas were DD so she considers herself fortunate to be minimally endowed.
love & hugs to ya, Kath

LOL - a lot of guys have boobs that are almost as big as a lot of women.
Is it legal where you live (as it is in Ontario, Canada, where I live) for women to go bare-topped?
