Ideas Please. **huge Child S.A trigger****

Posted by Gabbette on June 9, 2009, at 10:57:03

Okay
The last few months I've been getting ads for child exploitation websites. They're so bold, sent like spam to anyone and everyone just using
a computerized list of possible address combinations.

In order to report these sites to the Society for missing and exploited children" you have to be sure that they aren't pictures of 40 year olds with ponytails.
They ask for ages, types of images..
So, I do check, and the ones I've recieved lately are the worst you could imagine, as young as two and no child over 12 and *yes* it's as depraved
as you hope it's not.

There aren't words for how disturbing it is -using the word disturbing almost sounds like a joke it's such an understatemnt.
I so want to block the domain, but..then what?
I feel like I'm just shutting my eyes to it.
I know people say you have to protect yourself, but it would be like people who ignore the children next door screaming because they didn't want to get involved.

So, I don't know whether I'm venting here, or asking for advice.. or.. what.
If anyone has anything to add I'd appreciate it though.

By God I'd send the info anyway, check with Interpol, and call every tv station or newspaper reporter I could find. If they can't even check out the story---they're just as bad---even encouraging it in my opinion. do any of them seem to come from the u.s.? I'll call the FBI--and there are tons of organizations who will investigate-I would imagine/hope. Good luck----and please keep us posted.

(Gabbette)

I suggest you contact the police. In Toronto, there's a special Unit that deals with online child pornography. I can't imagine that any major city wouldn't have one also.

If you feel up to it, please try phoning them & see what they say. Maybe you'd be able to forward the emails that you've received to them.

It's not your job to sort through this stuff. In fact, if you don't have any luck with your local police department, let me know & I'll contact the Toronto police department.

You do NOT need this!! You need NOT to see this awful stuff. Please take good care of yourself & don't traumatize yourself with these things. Please????

Gonna call our police dept right now, in fact.

I'm so glad you brought this here.

Just spoke with Toronto Police Dept, Child Exploitation Unit.

They said for you to phone your police department & ask to speak to someone in the Child Exploitation Unit. She said they will probably ask you to forward them the email.

I hope you do this. You've probably already 'reported spam' to your internet provider. Perhaps you can 'block' the address. When I had my email via 'excite.com' they had a block feature. I don't know if my current does or not.

I send my love & maybe you can use TAT to heal the trauma that you've received from seeing what you've seen. Ask me if you need info.

Thanks so much, I'd been reporting it online sites that are supposed to specialize in that

but it didn't seem to go anywhere, I was completely baffled, because this is horrifying stuff, and well, I can tell when something has been faked, or if it's obvious they're over age but trying to .. well you know. There's no mistaking a two year old (that's the last time I'll say that) And I just couldn't believe no one even got back to me, I thought maybe they were busy.
But I'll get a lotmore satisfaction calling
The police and definitely let you know what happened. Thanks so much
and Phillipa my first post answers your question
did you skim one of *my* precious posts?
Shame on you! ; 0

I haven't called yet, I'll have to psych myself up
I'm starting to wonder if the online reporting sites are just ways to get the information..
But the Centre for Missing and exploited children
is the one I chose, and I'm quite sure they are legitimate.

I called them, Thank you!

They're actually coming to my apt tomorrow.
That's a long way from going nowhere online
So a great big thank you, it's such a relief.
Even though it means I have to clean now.

~ ~ ~ Yay for you Gabette! You're a shining beacon for children in my opinion. You did your best (even by exposing yourself to negative stuff) to help children be protected.

One thing - in my opinion, it is extremely important (if you feel comfortable) to let the police know exactly what you encountered so far. Who knows, maybe the 'report problems' sites are there to make people THINK that they've done what needs to be done - to actually prevent them from going to the police! Please be sure to give the police ALL the email addresses of the agencies that supposedly are there to help children.

Even the one that you said is authentic: I think the police need to know that they are REQUIRING the general public to LOOK at the actual problematic material!!!!!!!!!! By going onto those sites, the general public is opening themself up to being accused of being involved in child porn. If at a later date, the police DO an investigation, I believe that they could see who signed onto those sites! (I could be wrong, but isn't that what the "Who" member - was it Peter Townsend? I dunno - but isn't that what he was accused of?) Anyway Gabette, I DO hope that you give the police a very complete record of what you did; what sites you went to (if you know) and email addresses of places where you tried to report this.

I am shocked that the one agency required descriptions, etc.......that seems ludicrous to me, when a person is reporting this type of exploitation, etc.

Thank you for forging ahead with this hun.

xoxoxoxo (((((((((((you))))))))))))) luv, Kath

Thank you Kath, I wonder about those sites too
that's a good point\ about keeping people from not going to the police.

I did say on the phone what I encountered, and I did my homework before I even looked at the first one, Just going the sites is not illegal, but forwarding any pictures or downloading anything would be considered involvment. I can see why they'd ask because they must get so many of those
reports and so much of the ads are fake.

I was purposely trying to not be graphic or explicit so I'm not going to give more details it's been taken care of now.
