I feel physical improvements

Posted by Deneb on March 3, 2009, at 1:49:43

I've been working out at the Y.

At first I could only do 5 mins on the elliptical machine, then 10, then 15. Then I started doing 15 mins then low intensity then 15 more mins.

Today I surprised myself and did an hour on the elliptical machine.

I have also increased my strength. At first I could pull 45 pounds on that bar thingie, then 60 and now 75. I still can't do many reps of 75 pounds, but I can do more now.

My blood pressure is lower too. Normally my blood pressure is about 120/70, but today after exercise it was 89/56.

One weird thing though, I am gaining weight. Previously I had never been actually overweight, but I was always on the verge. Today at 128 pounds I'm at my heaviest and am officially overweight. :/

Oh well, I can only hope with time this will turn around and I will lose fat and weight.

How about emotional effects?

I've been trying to get my husband back to the gym for years, because he's one of those people who really is helped, stresswise, by exercise.

Your posts lately have sounded very centered to me. Do you think the exercise is helping anxiety?

And congratulations. :)

The extra weight is muscle which weighs more than fat. Judge by how your clothes fit and not by the scale. If you get larger it's the increased muscle. Do you like and get antianxiety effects from it? Phillipa

I told her I gained 5 pounds and she told me to stop exercising, I am very heavy. :(

128 pounds is like unheard of in a female in my family.

My clothes fit the same, I don't think I've gained fat. I am working out a lot, today for over 3 hours, almost all calorie burning cardio too.

My Mom also doesn't want to to work out after work because I get home late. She is trying to sabotage me. :(
