ok, if you "liked" Kalervo Palsa, so what about this one?
Martti "Hoohey" Innanen is a quite crazy finnish naivist,
unfortunately his paintings are quite hard to find, but i'll try..
this one is called: The Finnish People :)

I don't like them Chris. The only one I like is of the boy in the (what looked like) farmyard.
As far as art goes, I mostly like paintings of Nature which are beautiful. Or sometimes touching pictures of older people, kids playing outside, etc.
As far as movies go, I never like to watch ones where I feel badly at the end.
For me, life itself presents enough disturbing, sad, upsetting things, that I don't like to introduce more of it by choice!
That's just me.
:-) Kath

sorry kath,
me neither, and i have to say that those weren't sent for your eyes to see,
i find many of them really awful,
but you could perhaps still notice that even in this sick person's short life there also were better days,
and some of them, after all, show his talent ...
talking about finnish art, perhaps you like these?
Mme Schjerfbeck's paintings are today the most valuable ...
yours chris

Dear Kath
This message of yours has bothered me since I got it. The more I think about it, the more I agree. There is so much sh*t and ugliness, violence and horror in our world, far more than needed. We shouldn't spread it any further.
A "good" example was the Finnish monster band called "Lordi" which took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2 years ago. And can you imagine what happened: for the first time in the history of that contest FIN took the 1. prize.....
I have decided not to spread any ugliness more. On the opposite, I have tried to collect some of the most beautiful pieces of music and arts for you and others to see ("Books"). Humour is another thing, it really is needed.... :)
Thanks once again for waking me up.
Yours Chris

Oh - you're welcome Chris. I didn't mean to sound critical. It's just that I get uncomfortable with sad or disturbing things.
I'll check on Books.
thx, Kath

> Yours Chrisawwww Chris, art doesn't have to be "pretty"
Hopefully it evokes some type of feeling, the question is what type of feeling?
either way the artwork you posted definitely served a purpose for the artist...it communicated, and much more than that
it's a peek into a world (into a mind) that was disturbing
but there is a lot of REALLY appreciated work that is very much like that
everyone must choose for themselves what they will put on their own wall and live withI'm glad you shared it
thanks,
sid
