I just wanted to share what has been happening lately.
I ended up dropping biochem because the labs where too anxiety producing. I felt really bad about it. To make myself feel better, I got another hamster. I ended up getting another petstore hamster because none of my replies to the hamster ads got any replies. My new hamster is nameless right now and I don't even know gender yet. My hamster is afraid of me and won't let me pick him/her up. I don't want to stress him/her out too much so I leave it alone. I try offering food to it, but it still doesn't trust me enough. I hope it's OK. It keeps making these wheezing or sneezing noises. I wonder if the regular Carefresh bedding is too dusty and maybe hamster is allergic?
Also, another strange thing...I've developed a fascination with earlobe stretching. It's strange because I don't seem like the type of person to want to modify my body. Perhaps that's just me stereotyping the type of people who get tattoos and other body mods. I still would never get a tattoo, but right now I would love to slowly and painlessly stretch my gunned earlobe piercings to about 10 gauge or 2.4mm. I'm stopping small because I don't want huge holes in my ears. Some people have really big holes, like an inch or bigger. I would never go that big. I'm stopping small because I don't want to affect my future career choices and also I just don't like huge holes.
Right now I think my holes are at 18 gauge, or at 1mm diameter (basically normal sized holes). I just ordered a 16 gauge (1.2 mm) taper to stretch my ears and a pair of 16 gauge straight titanium pink barbells.
I'm thinking maybe one day, after I retire, I might want to go a little bigger than 10 gauge. I wouldn't want to go too big though, I don't like the look of distorted earlobes.
I told my pdoc about my fascination and I think she thinks it's weird. She didn't say anything, but that's what I got from her. I hope I'm just imagining that.
Anyways, do you think it's weird?

I think the loops some people put in their ears are weird. I think a lot of people who get those will regret it when they're older.
I personally am not a fan of excessive piercings (eye brow, nose, tongue, lip, belly button, etc), but some people are I guess.
Hope you're doing good Deneb. :D

I'm not really a fan of excessive piercings either, or tattoos. Which is why this is weird for me.
I mean, I don't mind excessive piercings or tattoos on other people, but I wouldn't want them on my body.
This is just a strange fascination I've develped. Plus, some of the jewelry for bigger holes are really pretty, especially some of the spirals. I think you can look really classy with bigger holes if you wear the right jewelry.
Again, not looking to get really big holes, small ones.

Its one of the latest trends, its understandable that you are interested. When I was younger it was all the grunge stuff that was in - flannel, messy unstyled hair, little makeup. Its also when tattoos and piercings started getting big, but I never was much into that. Do what you want girl! There's nothing wrong with trying different persona's. Its how you figure out who you are. Have fun. People make way too big a deal out of these things IMHO.

I'm not actually interested because it's the latest trend. I don't know...it's something about the patience involved with stretching that is appealing to me. That and the control aspects.
I'm not the sort of person who does things just because they are "in" or "cool". I've never been cool. LOL
Stretching is a permanent modification so you shouldn't stretch if you don't want big holes when you're 80 years old.
I'm doing lots of research on this and I've heard and seen some pretty horrific earlobes from people who stretched too fast. I'm going to go really slowly. I'm going to stretch to 16 gauge and stay there for several months. 16 gauge isn't big, most piercers pierce at 14 gauge. (The lower the gauge, the bigger the diameter.)

> Anyways, do you think it's weird?Do you is the question? Personally, I am not a fan of that look at all and when i see it I have to admit i don't fully understand it, so I am inclined to say, don't do it.
My advice would be, wait 6 months, or even 2 months and do more research if you want, but wait some time and if you still have a burning desire to have larger ear holes, then do it. But don't do it on a whim.
And out of curiosity, do you often wear earrings now? I recommend seriously thinking out any decisions that would alter your appearance in any way, because those sort of things can not be reversed and I would hate to see you 20 years from now embarrassed by your ear lobes and spending thousands to get reconstructive surgery! A tatoo on the back can be hidden, but its not as easy to hide the ears.
Just think about it. As extreme as that may sound, we change sooooo much with time and it is very unfortunate when we cant take things back.

I am going to think about this for a long time. Well first of all my goal size isn't all that big, 2.5mm in diameter (when stretched out) or 10 gauge, which looks even smaller without jewelry. I'm thinking of going up a gauge every year, so first year at 16 gauge, second year at 14 gauge, third year at 12 gauge, then finally in 4 years I will be at 10 gauge.
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Gauge
I'm planning on staying at 16 gauge or 1.2mm for 1 year. Surely that is enough time to think about things?
Again I'm not going to have huge holes in my ear. If I want huge holes I'll make sure to get them when I'm retired so it wouldn't affect my career.
I personally do not like the huge holes myself.

Oops, I forgot to answer the question. Yes I do wear earrings. I wear the same ones everyday though. I'm not much for changing earrings.
People tell me at 10 gauge most people will just think I have on regular earrings. It's no big deal.

I didn't mean to imply you were doing it just because its the latest trend! I just was trying to say its not weird to want to try something new. Sorry if my post came out condecending, I didn't mean it that way.
