A very cool thing

Posted by ClearSkies on December 7, 2007, at 8:53:03

I posted last summer about volunteering for a local coastal cleanup organization in my area. The founder of the Green Armada was one of the 18 finalists honoured last night by CNN in their "Heroes" special that aired last night.

I'm so happy to have been part of the start of such a small but vitally important thing that gained the national attention it deserves. I urge all of my Babble friends to take an empty plastic bag along the next time they go for a walk. The little bit of garbage that you pick up is being prevented from ending up in your local waterway.

Not being sarcastic we bring a plastic bag on walks here but they are for dog poop. This area is clean on mess. I know what you mean as when we lived at the beach always trash all over we picked it up and threw it away. Congrats on the wonderful thing you volunteered and did. Phillipa
