I am so excited! I bought more goldfish for my pond, most are orange and white with cool patterns. I also bought my first yellow Koi, a little baby, I hope my big frog won't eat himor her. Plus I bought 3 gigantic bullfrog tadpoles, but yet some had about all there legs. They are fiesty things! I also had to get some water plants to help shade the water, so it won't turn green in the hot weather. Plus with double the fish now, with double the poop, it will probably turn green anyways.

You have a pond? Cool! When my family goes "camping," we stay in my dad's friend's cabin. He has a pond and little waterfall in his backyard with some froggies. They're so fun to watch! I always try to get really close to them to see if tyhey'll let me pick them up (they usually don't :(

I didn't know that frog poop made the water green thought it was algae? Love Phillipa

Hi Happyflower,
I have a pond, too. I love just sitting and watching the fish. You might get some snails to help with the algae problem.
My goldfish were real tiny when I got them (last year) and now they're about four inches long. They are so happy to be out of their tank and back outside for the summer.

Hi Angela,
Yup, I have a pond about 11X14, 3 feet deep with a waterfall I made. It is so relaxing to sit by, but I have to redo the waterfall since it is leaking. I love to hear the frogs at night! I live in town and you can hear my pond with the waterful and frogs croaking about 1/2 block away. When I first made the pond about 3 years ago, I saw people walking down the alley to see where the sound was coming from. The funny thing is the bigger my bullfrogs get, the louder they croak at night. But the neighbors haven't complained yet. LOL

Hi Phillipa,
It is the fish poop that fertilize the algae to make it grow. That is why I need waterplants to suck up the fertizler first so algae is slowed down. But my baby fish and tadpoles will eat some of the algae until the plants mulitply.

Hi Poet!
I knew we had a lot in common! lol I have had my pond about 3 or maybe 4 years now, and I bought the little fish too, and most of my older goldfish or spunkins are 6 inches and my koi have grown huge, maybe a foot long! ;-) I can keep my fish in my pond year round since it is 3ft deep. They hibernate over winter. I love having nature at my house.
I should think about getting some snails, since I don't use a filter. Do you get them locally or do you mailorder them? Do you fish eat them? Mine love slugs! ;-)

now all you need are some duckies, or a swan, perhaps a turtle or three.
just not "the ducky"
the mom might get mad

It is funny you mentioned having a little ducky! We had one in our pond last spring, but he was too little to live on his own so we took him to a rescue place. He was so cute! I will see if i still have a picture of him I can post.
