Horrid morning totally

Posted by Jo U.K on February 24, 2007, at 4:36:12

peed off. Husband and son gone to Cardiff for weekend to watch a cup final fotball match.Hate them going away, I spend the whole time waiting for a call to say my son is lost/they have been in a terrible road accident etc etc etc etc.
House is a stinking pit. Poxy dogs bring half the field in with them, they shake it up the kitchen walls. Even the fridge has mud spalshed up it. How can I keep on top of this???????????
I towel them off as we come in but it doesnt seem to help.
I was hoovering the living room and one of the Labs (who was sposed to be shut in the kitchen) came in with muddy rotten paws allover the carpet. Whats the point? It was actually my fault for not shutting the door properly. I then kicked the door shut so hard I've left a great black rubber foot print on it. Which I cant get off.
I went up to my sons room to clean, well thats a joke, I couldnt even see the floor. Next time I get his clothes out of the drier, instead of ironing them I think I'll just ball them up and toss them all over his room. It'd save him a job.
My poor daughter is stuck here with me. I can see fear in her eyes. Seriously.
Thought I'd come on here and get it out instead. Hope you all dont mind.
I hate this stinky dirty house, and I hate the mud outside. To top it all, my Mum usually comes over at the weekend and she mucks Rosie out, she's not coming cos she bent the ignition key for her car. So I've had to muck that filthy stable out this morning and I didnt have the energy. The horses broke the fence down yesterday afternoon and had a rare old time down at the pond, so I had to spend an hour putting the fence back up before I could even turn them out.

It's only 10.30am and I've had enough already. Gonna go get the papers, dog/rabbit/horse food (yet more lugging about - I get all the best jobs)
then I'm gonna sit down for a couple of hours.
Sorry.

Well. Have you ever read "The Women's Room"
I thoroughly recommend it. It was like in the top 10 books ever voted for by listeners of 'women's hour' you know on Radio 4.

Anyway, I fully sympathize with you. Mud? I haven't seen abit of mud for several months now - thats what you get in -20C weather!! I live in Finland.

Perhaps you can get your family to help you out abit? I mean, you're not a servant....

I miss british papers, even the trashy ones. Reading stuff online just isn't the same!

Kind regards

Meri

How about getting a cleaner? You're obviously quite well off (I can only dream of owning land / house like yours!!!), and cleaners don't cost all that much..

And hey - silver linings.. you could be stuck in a one bed flat with no outside space at all, unable to take the car out because local footballs fans take all the parking spaces!

I do feel for you having married a man who suports either of the teams in the final tomorow though ;) (Though, technically, Chelsea are now my local premiership team, I would rather eat excrement than support them *lol*)

((((Jo))))

Light a scented candle or incense. sit in a chair and close your eyes. Both mess and smells disappear as if by magic. The tricky bit is blowing out the candle and leaving the house whilst keeping your eyes closed in order to maintain your serenity.

Jo definitely leave the house. When you get home it will be too late to clean and them let them your family clean up their own mess. I'm sorry. Love Phillipa

By the afternoon I'd got a grip again and calmed down. Think I was just tired. I seem to suffer from some Martyr syndrome where I do everything myself, wont ask for help then moan when it ges too much! I'm my own harshest critic and worst enemy!
Nikki, I wouldnt get a cleaner. I may appear well off to you,and I'm certainly not complaining but we started out with a mortgage age 18and 19(we only did this cos both of us had problems at home and needed somewhere to live, houses were still fairly cheap then), in a tiny 1 bed place in which we had our first child(unplanned). We had a series of ancient old bangers, no cash, never went out or had holidays for years and years. In the mid nineties I was trying to feed us on £40 per week, and we had two kids then. I never minded, we just got on with it and worked and worked.
I have done most mundane, menial jobs you can think of to bring extra money in. The last 5 years my husband business took off, so we are doing ok now, though I never take anything for granted, it could all change tomorrow. I would do it all again the same.

The sacrifice for that is that he is at work from 7am till 8pm 6 days a week. So he's not around much.
There's nothing wrong with having a cleaner but it doesnt sit well with me to have someone come and do something that I'm perfectly capable of doing myself. It would feel lazy and indulgent to me.
Warm regards
Jo

Hi Jo - don't have time to read the whole thread, but I'm sending you loving support, for whatever that's worth.

It sounds like your situation was totally overwhelming!

How old is your son? Can't remember

I hope, now that the weekend is over, you're feeling better.

Your morning sounds like the Morning From Helll.

Love, Kath
