Note to self:
Do NOT buy a big roasting chicken so that you can have lots of leftovers unless you are prepared to roast it all blooming evening! Oh yeah, and it won't fit in the crockpot, either.Gah! When is this sucker going to be done????
Bah.

I should add that since I've been waiting all this time for dinner to be done, I've had more wine than usual. Another pitfall regarding large chickens.
Or maybe not? whooeee!
sigh
I'm hungry. Time to go devour.

I've never tried those cooking bags that you put food in and pop in the oven - I wonder if stuff cooks more quickly in them?
I roasted a little chicken this week and the poor thing was dry on top and perfect on the lower bits. Next time I'll have to cover the breast with a piece of foil.Or buy a bigger bird.
I hope yours was delicious!

I've used the cooking bags and they're great. I usually put carrots and onions on the bottom and they come out so flavorful, having soaked up much of the chicken juices. (Hmm, maybe not so good if they soak up the fat. So that's why they taste so good!)

I use those cooking bags all the time, too. If I hadn't used one this time, I'd probably still be waiting. :)
I thought about putting veggies inside the bag. I know you can, but I guess I wondered about all the drippings and juices and how that would affect them. So I put the potatoes in the roast pan but outside the bag. Fortunately, they weren't charcoal by the time the chicken was finally done.
It was ...ehh. Better than the last one I did, since I remembered to salt the inside of the bird this time. But not worth all the trouble this one took. Smaller birds for me from now on!
