They're waterproof! And you can't tear them either! They're made out of some sort of plastic. And they have a little clear window too.
Sadly, I'm not the one visiting Oz, but my bf is (he's going for fieldwork!).

I read today that due to the cost of zinc and copper it now costs more than a penny to make a US penny. Go figure.

It has, for some time. Cost more to make it, I mean. It's not free, to stamp those suckers out.
When the cost of *scrap metal* makes pennies worth more than a penny, then you just stand back. Gonna be a stampede. No, that would be a pennypede. Penny peed all over the place. ;-) [I am in a very weird mood. Heh.]
Just like when silver crossed that line. Copper is next. Penny pricing gonna go away, soon.
All those people with those big old jars of pennies won't even have to count them, to cash them in. Nope. Just weigh them. So much a lb.
A pound sterling used to be the value of a pound of silver. I think that was a while ago, now.
