Old letters and other memorabilia

Posted by dreamboat_annie on June 12, 2006, at 16:18:54

I'm in the process of packing to move and I came across a big box of letters from old friends and boyfriends and other memorabilia. Every time I move, I just can't bring myself to throw the stuff out. So, I spend hours re-reading the letters and remembering good times and all the fun my friends and I had. So, now I am moving again and am having the same old debate - keep or toss. The emotional and nostaligic side and me just can't seem to bring myself to part with this big box of memories, yet the rational side of me thinks it's silly to hold on to the stuff.

What would you do - keep it and chuck it?

Keep it. You can never retrieve it. (nm) » dreamboat_annie

Worst case: You store it and throw it away later.

Best case: You need kindling someday when you are snowed in.

Keep the most meaningful and throw the rest away. I'm a thrower away person. Love Phillipa

You should keep them. Even if you don't read them, it's nice to have a concrete representation of good times, in the back of a drawer or closet.

to them. Just can't bring myself to chuck them yet. It's fun to read the letters, even if it is only once in a while. I'm not one to hold on to much (I take spring cleaning to a new level LOL), nor am I one to get caught up in the past, either good or bad, but there are so many memories in that box of stuff, it's a nice reminder of good friends and how we have changed and grown, and good times, and how my and my friends' definition of a good time has changed.
