tankini...because it makes it easier to use the restroom - practicality always prevails
full coverage is essential I'm afraid ;-)

Every year I say- this is going to be the year...
Well, one year I bought a tankini- it still serves me very well.
Current state of flab prohibits me from wearing a more daring 2-piece.
Even when I was in shape, it freaked me out. Everytime I went to try it on, I felt like I was walking around in my underwear. Like a nightmare!

About ten years ago when I was anorexic and at my skinniest I wore a bikini a few times. Then I went to a friend's parent's pool party and her dad told me his 40 something friend said I looked really cute in my bikini and kept trying to fix me up with him. It really creeped me out (I was about 25). Now I don't even know if I would wear a swimsuit in public PERIOD because I'm bigger than I've ever been in my life. I might at my pool here at the apartments where hardly anyone ever is, but that's it. Its weird to think I got so many complements when I was so sick I was eating say, an apple every three days (and still thought I was fat).

I got a suit that's basically nylon gym shorts with a liner, plus a tank top with built-in bra. I love it. It feels like wearing actual clothes.

I guess I'm a tankini girl, as I just bought one today!! Yeah, its like Tabitha described, little shorts and a vest top thing. Its pretty nice!! Although I had to buy a size UK 14 er, which I guess is a size US10? Its the largest size I've been. But then, I am 5'10, so er.....well thats what I tell myself anyway! I could do with losing a good few kilos. My BMI is 24, and this is the largest I've ever been in my life. :o(
Yuck, I hate wearing bikini's as I have a large scar right across my stomach from an operation I had when I was born. But that said, I have worn bikini's in the past, mostly in italy where I didn't know anyone except my brother.
Oh well.

Although, I must get some 'Nair' for my legs..and get my Bikini line trimmed (lol). I am kinda of a thong guy...but please just don't take pictures. And I can't go out in public or else I will scare people and end up being thrown in jail, people thinking I was a "grown" child-star freak. :P

Sounds like you might need more than a little trim. You might need to go Brazilian. And if you don't know what Brazilian entails, well, you probably are not a thong guy after all...lol

IMHO:
I do not care how ripped, torn, cut, or gorgeous a man is, NO man - in RL (ESPECIALLY), print, computer image, etc…looks good in a Speedo to me.

I sunburn, so I swim in a shirt.
I have always marvelled that (some) women will wear far less than they do for underwear, but do so in the most pubic of places. Err, public. But, let the gawking begin, and it's all on the guys? <Spock eyebrow>
I recall this guy on Last Comic Standing, last summer. He had it down. [spying gawkable bikini] To girlfriend/wife: "Honey! Look at that! <pointing> It's disgraceful how little she has on! Can you believe that!?" A moment later, <still pointing>, "Look at that shocking display!" <sunglasses tipped aside>

So, I would guess a Speedo is out for your beach attire?
I find at least a bit of mystery to be alluring, particularly in 70 year olds - which is mostly what I've seen sporting Speedos.
I hope to not be misunderstood, aging is fine. The alternative isn't appealing to me, so aging is fine. Having that level of self-confidence to go to the beach or pool in your scant underoos is great (I guess) but I have thoughts of just waiting to see what all that will look like on my own partner if we are given golden years. I do not need a sneak preview.
Sorry, I'm having a small Speedo rant tonight.

I'm OK with a bikini top, but not bottoms!! I like swimsuit bottoms with a small skirt so that I don't have to worry about stubble or whatever
