** Oh I was so worried when I saw your post, in UK that would have been an african who didn't like going out much!!
It sounds very very scary to live near you, I'm hopeless with eight legged things and long wiggly things too (snakes I mean!)
Well done you brave thing

I think it's very lucky you knew what it was.

If I ever run across poisonous spiders, I'd likely very gently pick them up on a sheet of paper and bring them out to the garden, like I do with all spiders. Which probably wouldn't be a good idea.

I am terrified of spiders. I'd have screamed so loud somebody would have called the cops who would have had to have killed the spider.

I don't like snakes, but I'm not afraid of them. I think of them as lizards without legs. I love lizards.

I'm scared of lizards and snakes, but terrified and disgusted on a very deep level by those little see through geckos.

I was painting an outside ceiling around a light fixture once and apparently disturbed a nest of baby geckos. A number of them fell in my hair and I shook them out. Baby geckos flying everywhere, falling broken with those little transparent bodies, and me screaming hysterically and crying.

I got bitten by a brown recluse spider. My whole leg looked like the pictures. I was working then in Va Beach as an RN and knew if I went to to ER they would admit me for IV antibiotics went to an outpt place. Lucky for me the oral antibiotica and the betadyne soaks got rid of it. Love Phillipa

**Warning...don't click on the link if you are grossed out by bug bite pics**If these are the pics you are trying to link to
http://www.snopes.com/photos/bugs/brownrecluse.asp
then, as the website says, there is not quite 100 percent evidence they where caused by a brown recluse..but these pictures are pretty wild!

Jay those are the pictures and the back of my leg looked like the middle stages. The antibiotics and the betadyne soaks must have killed the infection before it got worse. Thanks Phillipa

Gawd Dinah - that's horrendous. Makes me think of the time I was sweeping the outside wall near the roof & disturbed a nest of baby spiders (NOT poisonous) & they sort of burst outward like a fireworks display!!! But luckily none landed on me. I'm surprised you can even tell about it!! EEEYUKKKK
