June 3rd Fairywings and I will be running in race about 2 hours east of Chicago called the Sunburst. Would anyone like to join us in our first race? It could be a lot of fun! ;-)

I used to run. I ran cross-country in High-school but of late, my strides imbued with increased velocity occur when tardy, crossing streets, or when chased (to borrow a word from Val Kilmer in Real Genius).
But tell us about this race... how long is it? How many runners? Is it for a charity? Are you raising money?
I've often thought I would like to run again, but I need some SERIOUS exercise and getting back into shape to do so.

happyflower you are a very inspiring person!
Since I told you that the most exercise I did was to head for the biscuit tin (sorry cookie jar!) I have been on a 6 mile hike with the dogs (it was meant to be 4 but I got lost and had to ring hubby to come and get me!) and spent 10 minutes on the girls trampoline (I never knew trampolining used your pelvic floor muscles so much and after 4 kids mine weren't quite up to it! whoops!)
So unfortunatly (due to location and inherent laziness!)I won't be joining you and fairywings in the run (much as I'd like to) but look forward to hearing all about it

DO you live in the area where you can join us? Try Sunburstraces.org. They have a 5 K funwalk, 5Krun, 10K, 1/2 marathon, and marathon. I will be doing the 5K run. It is really cool because you start at College Football Hall of fame and you end at Notre Dame Stadium at the 50yrd. line.
I have never done a race before so it will such a challege. I start my running class next Tues and I will have 10 weeks to get ready. I am getting really excited.
Maybe Dr. Bob could organize something?
