State medical boards...

I think another more accurate way to look up doctors is if your state medical board has a database and a doctor has had an action against them, e.g. the listings in DocFinder. Now of course just because an action against a doctor is listed does not make them a bad doctor necessarily. Some doctors could have bad luck and have cranks trying to make frivolous cases against their malpractice insurance.

Unfortunately the above site doesn't rate doctors on punctuality, knowledgeability. etc. It just tells you if they've ever had their license revoked.

Marsh I love your site. But who decides what doctors are listed there. Like how did my old bad pdoc get there befor he was even rated. Do they ask to be there? And I still can't find what I wrote about him. Name Nunn. Fondly, Phillipa

That's the beauty of it! WE DECIDE! Anyone can go on there and rate any doctor. If your bad doc was already on there, it's because somebody else already rated him there. I'll go look again and see if I can find what you wrote.

Phillipa,

Your rating and or comments must not have "taken". Maybe you didn't do something like the "confirm message" like we have to do here? You can see where I rated my pdoc - look up Generoso Masangkay - I mistakenly put him as being in NC, so you can find him thre and see what it looks like when a comment has been left. Why don't you try rating your doc again and see if it takes this time.

Marsha

Marsha I'll try again. But when I went there the first time just his name was there without a rating. When I did my rating the sad face and number 1 as a rating was there. Only the comments were missing. Fondly, Phillipa

Just wanted to say thank you to all who have visited RateMDs.com. I am a co-founder of the site and just stumbled across this thread. To give a little background information, I am also the founder of RateMyProfessors.com, which I started in 1999 and now has almost 5 million professor ratings. I mention this mainly because I wanted to let people know that RateMDs.com is a much newer site (started in 2004), which is why it has a much lower number of ratings so far. But the good news is that RateMDs is growing at about the same rate RateMyProfessors did, which means that it should become a much more valuable resource within a couple years. At least that is our hope. :)

If anyone has any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask. You can also reach me at jswap@ratemds.com.
Thanks!

John
