question for dear Gabbix2 below....

Posted by zenhussy on October 16, 2005, at 14:30:11

did you happen to see where the villagers are storing the pitchforks and torches?

it is just like watching Young Frankenstein but nowhere near as humourous, ya know?

I know you didn't ask me, but I thought I'd tell you that my pitchfork is in my garage. I use it mostly to turn the compost. You know, that stuff that's created from garbage? Ain't recycling grand?

composting is fantastic for the planet. compost piles require attention to properly breakdown organic material. looking at a pile some can even tell what the original organic matter was during the process of transforming to manure.......but more often than not people don't care what makes sh*t as long as the end result is sh*t.

even though we didn't as it is good to hear from a gardening/recycling/composting expert on such matters. thx!

too many vermin in our garden to compost...they even got into the black boxes and tumbler barrel composters. it is a shame watching kitchen scraps go to landfill when they could be helping next year's crops.

I'm a real fan of composting myself, gg.

I've got a HUGE pile of it going right now.

You don't like compost? It's a great soil amender, but not so good as a mulch, as it doesn't really prevent weeds.

Takes some work, too. But it's very gratifying to shovel out that black gold and know that your efforts have come to fruition.

Take care, gabbi.

That's good for soil too, I hear.

I absolutely agree. (although you have to be careful to not set it too close to tender plants, or it could burn them---hmmm, how's that for a metaphor?)

I'm afraid I'm being dense as to what is inspiring this from you, but whatever.

Take care,

Well as you asked, it's not actually a metaphor at all.

I wouldn't want to hurt either of you for anything, and I'm sorry that I did.

I have a strong reaction (for many reasons) to under the radar sideswipe comments toward any poster, or any body actually, I always have. It seems that it renders whomever it is defenceless , they can't really comment back, but they know what's up, and it seems to infer that they are less than a person. Other than that, like I said I have many personal reasons for reacting as strongly as I do, it reminds me far too much of childhood, of having what upset me, what I was angry about mocked in just that way.
I suppose some would say that certain actions negate any need for respect.. and also I know I've done things that are in the scheme of things no different. It won't change my feelings though, I don't think it's something I care to change.
I do want to apologize for causing you both any sadness, ironically it's because you are both so compassionate, and yet, straightforward that I'm so fond you. (Well those, and other reasons : )

And this is my last post this time

At least for a good long time.

Oh, Gabbi. I didn't mean to make you feel like I need an apology.

There are a couple of things I understand. One is that there's a ton I *don't* understand about this thread. Everyone has their reasons for posting and I respect that.

The other thing I know is that regardless of how much I wish for it, just because I like a group of people, it doesn't mean they are always going to agree with each other. And they might not get along at times or ever. That's the part that makes me feel sad. It's no one's fault. It just is what it is.

About you posting, I hope you continue to do so. There's absolutely no reason for you to be ashamed. (Who wouldn't come back to give Dinah some love? :-) )

I have lots of reasons for posting. And sometimes lots of reasons for not posting. In the end, though, I always end up here because of the posters I've come to love and respect. I hate to deprive myself of all the good things they have to offer and I only hope I can offer something in return.

Sorry. It's late and my thoughts are hardly organized. What I mean to say is I hope you stay. If you don't, I understand and you know...or better yet, *I* know where to find *you*. ;-)

Lots of love,
Laurie
