Ant Infestation

Posted by AdaGrace on July 15, 2005, at 7:45:52

I have an infestation of ants no matter where I go.

My office is crawling with p*ss ants. Little tiny red ants crawling all over my desk and keyboard. Biting me when they feel the desire.

My flower beds at home are totally overrun by little black ones that come bubling up to the surface when I water. Heaven forbit I should pull a weed or two because then they crawl up my arms and legs and bite my flesh every chance they get.

Ants, what are their purpose?

No PITA pity person here.
If I was the one who trapped the flies in the microwave, I would have stood and watched as they "poped" in the microwave.

Sad isn't it. My joy is found in the cruel murder of insects.

No, I didn't rip the legs off of flies or poke my dod with a stick as a child. My cynical murderous intents have only become apparent as of late.

This is assuming I actually have time to go get that.......
I am chained to this desk for 10 hours a day, I am chief cook & bottlewasher, cheuffer, and caregiver for 5 hours after that. I have trouble seeing those ants outside at night when I am watering at Midnight.

Terro works wonders. Available at the grocery store. It's a liquid. You put drops of it on little pieces of paper that come with it. Ants are attracted to it like crazy, they eat a bunch, take it back to their nest and it will kill the whole nest.

Ants are great, but not in my house!

My mother used to take me hunting... » AdaGrace

Snail hunting, in her yard... I'd show up, after work, to drive her to the supermarket, and she'd say, "GREAT! Now we can hunt before we go shopping!" Out to the backyard we'd go, me holding the flashlight, mother carrying a coffee can filled with a combination of water, ammonia, and the remains of the snails she'd already caught... {shudder} I'd hold the light as she turned over leaves to find the snails, which she would then drop into the can -- always with a little bit of satisfaction.

In Mother's most vulnerable hours, she will say, with both fear and resignation in her voice, "My room in Hell will be filled with snails."

By the way, I *SWEAR* by Grant's Ant Stakes. While the label doesn't say it, I've found they work best if you lay a little line of the bait from the stake toward the area you usually see ants. Even without doing that, though, they have ALWAYS worked for me, and as soon as they've been out for a short while, all the ants are gone. They haven't ever come back when I've used Grant's.

Good luck. And I feel your pain.

Although, for some reason, I am currently reading "Journey to the Ants", and kinda wishing I had some live ants to watch. I know, though, that as soon as I saw some live and in person, I'd get right over that! lol
