Consiracy Theories

Posted by Angela2 on January 31, 2005, at 11:41:36

Are they real? A friend of mine has told me a lot of them about our government. He is wondering like me. To give you an example of what I am wondering, one of them is: the government tried to stop rock music by killing off the musicians (Janis joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, etc.). They all died the same age and the same way (drug overdose choking on their vomit). The government was against rock music because it made people feel and made them think and the government wants its citizens to be stupid. That's why all we have now is bubblegum pop music like Hilary Duff.

This is kind of believable to me (the part about rock making you think and pop just turning your brain to mush). And the idea that the government wants its citizens to be stupid is really thought provoking to me.

Another one is that aliens do exist but the govenrment intervenes and covers it up.

I just wonder. I don't know the truth. I think I'm kind of posting to see if anybody actually knows the truth.

Comments? Replies?

I don't believe that at all. I do believe, though, that government has a handle on the political climate, and manipulates it through the media, i.e., they will contract to have certain types of movies made (don't ask me how they do this; there are secret government departments we know nothing about and they have their hand in the weirdest stuff, I believe that) in order to influence the way the American mind is thinking ... I saw a movie recently that really brought this home to me, a movie that made no sense other than as an emotional vehicle for political propaganda ...

Hi Angela,

I think most conspiracy theories are not true but frequently very amusing. My favorite website compilation of conspiracy theories is this:

http://www.conspiracyarchive.com/

The funniest "theory" I've read recently is that Prince Charles is promoting Satan's agenda by supporting sustainable development:

And my favorite over-the-top conspiracy website is still the Time-Cube guy:

Enjoy!

Hmmmmm!!! What a coincidence you should post about this. I recently ran across a site about a week ago saying how John Lennon's murder was a big setup and it was really the government who did it because Lennon was so outspoken about the government and down with war and wanting peace and all that stuff. There was a lot of of info on that site and it really made me stop and ponder. The guy had tons of proof about it too.

I wish I had phrased that differently. What's funny to me may not be funny to someone else. I apologize if my comments were offensive to anyone.

With kind regards,

Hi Angela,

Not totally false; that's what makes them fun and intriguing. They're usually based on at least a few facts.

I was reading one story about the death of JonBenet Ramsey that started with her father's financial links to government contractors and ended with tales of aliens working in hidden tunnels beneath the runways at the Denver airport.

I guess I'm not that interested in involved stories like that. But my thoughts are really provoked at the idea that the govt. wants to control what we think and keep us stupid. I guess I don't really believe that the govt killed Janis Joplin and Jimmy Hendrix, but the thought control I wonder about. I also wonder about aliens.

I'm not convinced the government wants a fully informed and educated populace. But I don't think they go around killing pop stars for that. They've got the public school system under their complete and total control.

Not a conspiracy theorist, but a cynic.
