How come *I* never make any new "friends" here? Crushed just picks her favorite one of the 3 men on this site, drops him a note, and *bam!* he just happens to live in the same city. Jeez Louise. Envy, thy name is Tabitha.

BWAHAHA! Just move to Austin, Tabitha. We're thick as ants down here. ^^That was pretty weird, though. What are the chances?

no way amy are you getting out of this whole love fest. I have you pegged to meet up with someone from babbleland...just not sure which one. Don't mind me, I'm a matchmaker from way back and a royal pain in the buttocks. You better hope I never figure out which one you should meet up with.

Alright, you gossipy lot. Crushedout and I met and chatted over coffee today in Manhattan. No romance involved, as we both like girls, but different kinds of girls. I have to admit, I got unaccountably shy and careful about what I said, choosing to use the proper American words for things (apartment vs. flat) rather than the more relaxed and loopy Irish/American hybrid I slip into when posting here or with large numbers of my family members around me or when I've had a pint or three (I was co-raised primarily by my Irish grandmother and mother -- dad was pretty much MIA in the parenting department). Crushedout was very nice and we both seemed suitably bewildered as to what to say, especially at first. And a bit at second, too.
Anyway, we chatted away an hour and a half and then she had to head for her subway to get back home. (I live only a few blocks from where we met up and walked home.) As I've just commented to her in an e-mail, there is definitely a very different dynamic at work when talking to someone you've never met face-to-face as opposed to talking to that person online. I suddenly got all, well (I'm embarrassed to say it), "civil." (Stop laughing, Dr. Bob.)
Anyway, she turned out to be very cool and I'm sure I came across as very, very ... Christ only knows. You'd have to ask her. Anyway, that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it. Atticus

Just my therapist, but so far I haven't gotten her to sleep with me. (Does that count?)No, actually, I can't really take credit for my "converts." I suspect they had the tendencies before I had my way with them.

You do realize that we're going to have to figure out a way to pay for all the broken glass display cases and the front window after you picked that fight with the cashier over why the smallest serving at a Starbucks is a "large" and all hell broke loose. As usual, I gave my name to police as "Dr. Robert Hsiung of Chicago." What did you say? Atti

I told 'em I was Daniella Red, the notorious serial messer-with-heads. Heh heh. She's gonna be in big trouble now, boy. (Too bad for her that she gave us her real name.)

Hang on. Did you say "more approachable"? Do I really come across as intimidating here? (Oi! Hannibal, shut yer noise! Yeah, I'm talking to you, Lector! Can't hear myself think! Well, you SHOULD be sorry. Don't let it happen again. Yes, yes, I'll remember to bring the Chianti this time. Christ, some neighbors. I tell you.) ;)Atticus

well, it was a slip of the tongue, but yes, i did say that. :-)and yes, i was serious. it could be just me, though..i can't speak for anyone else. why you seem unapproachable (to me), i have no clue..although you do seem approachable at the moment. did i answer your question? :-)
i think our little story is progressing quite nicely! your last entry had me laughing *so* hard! i can't remember the last time that happened. and me and those dam* moose fingers! i hope you like my last one..you set up the sex, i deliver..wait, that didn't sound right....<pout>

Glad you liked the last entry. As far as approachability goes, I guess my tendency for snarky banter and facetiousness -- when presented here without a smiling facial expression and a knowing wink -- might seem more sharp than intended. Have you ever read Douglass Adams' "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"? (It's like Monty Python meets "Star Wars".) In the actual Hitchhiker's Guide in the novel, the Earth is only deemed worthy of a two-word entry: "Mostly harmless." I think that could apply to me as well. Not quite so harmless to posters like Herman Munster and Daniella Red whose intentions are questionable, but completely harmless to people I like such as you, Jai, crushedout, Sabrina, and pretty everyone else. I'd be the first to admit that I'm a bit rough round the edges, but that's just the way I'm wired, I suppose. Keep on chillin', mama. Ta. ;) Atticus

gad, that whole 'Hitchhiker' series is great! i used to take out the audio versions from the library to listen to on the way to and from work. they made the drive tolerable. loved 'thanks for all the fish'.
