It's added to my anxiety too. But me and my pdoc decided to stay with it along with some Xanax to take as needed for the anxiety. I also take Trazadone for sleep. I never had a problem sleeping in my life until I got on Prozac. For a while I hated the thought that I was taking medications to take care of side effects of other medications. Then I tried Lexapro, which for me was sheer h*ll. I was begging to get back on Prozac. So I guess sometimes you have to take the lesser of two evils. Will your doc prescribe Xanax? I know some won't, but it sure does help.

Hi Susan,
Glad to hear that you are doing so well. I feel the same way about Lexapro. I can't believe that I suffered almost my entire adult life with my OCD and finally, finally feel like I have some control again. It returns from time to time usually around my time of the month but it's never as severe or as long lasting as it once was. Mrs. C

Hey Yo Yos and all others who read,
I just wanted to give a little update. I have stopped Lexapro due to the fact that my Obgyn said that Prozac/Sarafem would do better for my hormonal stuff. So I am giving that a shot. Starting slow, right now taking about 10mg, splitting open my gel-cap and taking 10 about as well as I can.
Its not been bad so far. I have had some periods of irritation and a bit of anger... for some reason SSRI's seem to do that to me, I remember the Zoloft did it then the Lexapro did it as well, however it was one of the many side effects that went away. I am hoping it goes away too. So far I am pretty pleased with it, however I have decided to go up slowly, I really do not have time for all the side effects.
Work has been really busy but I got a HUGE raise so I was really excited, I can actually do things like eat and even go out for a glass of wine..haha. It has been a really challanging job, along with doing therapy I am faced with a lot of decisions as to whether to urge judges to take children out of the house so needless to say, I have heard some abuse stories that would make your hair stand on ends. However, I really feel like I am making a difference and helping these children to have a better life.
Things with my boyfriend are good. It has been an adjustment having him back in town after being long distance for two years. We are having a lot of fun and it is soooo nice having him here!
Well, hope everyone is doing well!!!

Hello Everyone,
Today was such a bad day. As lot of you know I am a liscensed masters social worker at a child psychiatric unit. I see a lot of sad things, however today I saw the worst one yet. Of course I cannot get into details nor would I want to horrify you, but I ended up getting a court order to take him out of his home, I had to talk to the poor thing for 2 and a half hours before he would tell me the truth. When he started talking I had to leave the room once because I was so upset.
I just don't understand who could hurt this precious child. I went out tonight and bought him a bunch of toys as a reward for having to tell his horrible account. I know I did the right thing for this child. I just cannot imagine some of the things that people can do to a child, its just so mind boggling.
Just needed someone to talk to....

lexy, not everyone is blessed with good parents or a loving, caring, protecting home, that is why most of us are on antidepressants... glad someone is intervening for this little one.. i wish someone would have intervened for me and my sister... i often wonder why people, who abuse such a precious gift from heaven, are allowed to have this gift in the first place... i know when my mother etc.. get to judgement day the LORD is gonna say...."i gave you this many precious gifts from heaven, WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THEM???" (my mother was blessed with 6 living children) i wouldn't want to answer for them.. ya know what i mean? thanks for having a good heart.. we love ya lexy

Hey Lexy ....you know that you are doing the work that you are meant to do ....so you just breathe and remember that you are the one helping these children ...you are the one to tell them that it is ok....you are the one that they can find some piece of love and hope with ...be proud of yourself and try not to think of the negative..It is soooooo sad...I know ....You take care of yourself as you are the angel that is here to help them and you will I just know it...Have a great day and how is the prozac going...hopefully that will help but there will be no med that will heal the heart when dealing with these situations...just know that you are meant to be there for them.....have a great day...Your friend always Mystic

Lexy, I think that you will be fine with the Prozac. You are taking it slow and that's the key I think to reducing s/e's. Your job sounds very fascinating! I also want to work with high risk kids but not to the degree that you do. If parents only knew how much they can f up their children by their actions and words.... You are making a difference in the world and you should be proud of that! Mrs. C

Wow Lexy,
I wrote back to your other post before I read this one. That is so awful and heartbreaking. I am taking a Family Crisis class this semester and can't believe the things that children have to endure. It affects the entire rest of their lives! But good for you for giving this boy some hope and for being his angel. Mrs. C

Hey Ya'll
Thanks for the support, last night was really rough. I bought the little boy a bunch of Spongebob Squarepants stuff and when I gave it to him today, he did not know what to do...He could not believe he got something new that had never been open before. He is a precious child and I think things are going to work out for him. Thanks a lot of writing and giving support. I really needed it!!
