My least favorite psych related movie

Posted by Dinah on September 6, 2004, at 10:43:43

Oooh. A tough one. There are so many!!!!

Even the touchy feely politically correct TV shows and movies, which normally I'm a sucker for, sometimes show people acting in completely selfish ways that cause harm to the people around them and praise their behaviors because they are self actualizing or something.

But I think my very very least favorite is Prince of Tides. The psychiatrist in that movie is behaving so reprehensibly, because even tho the man she sleeps with is not technically her patient he is effectively through their actions her patient. To frame that as a positive thing is unbelievable.

I agree completely!

Dinah, PRINCE OF TIDES is one of my least favorite movies. I've never been fond of Barbara Streisand anyway, and her role in that movie, which she also directed, confirmed most of the negative feelings I have about her. In all fairness, however, she did not write the book or the script. Around the time that the movie was released, I read some scathing reviews of it in several psychiatric journals and newspapers. In addition to condemning her unethical behavior with the character played by Nick Nolte, the reviewers criticized Streisand's long nails. I agree. I wouldn't go to a doctor who had talons instead of nails. Eeewww! Just thinking about it gives me the creeps.

Yeah, that one was bad. I also hated One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest. Yuck. Of course I saw it years after it came out.

How about the T on Ally McBeal? Tracy Goldman? I love her, but yikes! A theme song? What would your theme song be? I have no idea for my own.

I saw ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST so long ago, I don't remember a lot of it. I do remember that I thought it was a good movie at the time, but I think it was very sad. I haven't wanted to see sad or depressing movies for several years. When I see movies, I want to be entertained, and I want to laugh. There's enough sadness in real life, so I don't need to pay to see it in the movies.

I loved "Lilith" saw it a million years ago.

"Nuts" really scared me.
"One that flew....."
outstanding when it came out.
"Girl Interrupted" started out impressive and ended way over the top for me.
