It seems that the huricane was not the high wind experience that was expected but it's moving so slowly that the dump of water is incredible. No electricity. No power.
The residents are being asked to stay in their homes and not wander the neighborhood or be arrested.
I guess there was a run on the bank and the bank ran out of money.
I have a friend in Vero Beach. My thoughts rest with him.

Oh Jai, I hope your friend is okay. Have you been able to be in contact? I tried to call my sis in Ft. Myers, which was spared this time, and couldn't get through as all circuits were busy.
My aunt who is also my godmother lives in Coral Springs. I haven't heard an update from them other than yesterday they were "hunkered" down.
My heart goes out to all Floridians and the rescue workers who have had way too much nasty weather!
Warmly,
gg

I'm in St. Petersburg. We are lucky so far. Power flickered many times but it's still on. Winds not too bad. You're right on about the ATM's, and there's no gasoline to be had, so if we have to be evacuated, no one will be able to get anywhere. Went grocery shopping on Saturday, so it's just us, the cat, and bad television. I can't concentrate on reading at all. The remote control has the same attention span as I do right now.
partlycloudy is a stormyday today

Florida is getting hit hard this season. I can't believe that the next storm may be headed toward Florida as well.
This friend is my best friends father. He decided not to flee from Francis and stayed in his home. He called once to say he was okay. But the flooding had just begun. No word since. He had only $100. The bank was empty of money. He had a full tank of gas but where do you go if you can't drive through water?
Have you ever been in a flooded area?
It's really creepy. I was in a flood in Houston TX and it freaked me out.
There's a lot of stuff in the water....some of it alive. I saw floating islands of fire ants, snakes, rats...then the garbage. Yuk!

Wow, I have never been in a flood. I didn't think about all the stuff in the water. Ugh. And of course the clean up. How depressing. Sorry you had to go through that.
On the other hand, I *knew* I was allergic to Florida, and now I know why..it's the weather! ;(

I think that's a woman's name. Otherwise it would have been a Frank Sinatra storm.
