A couple of suggestions:
"That's an unkind thing to say"
"I thought you were friends"
"Please don't talk about her like that"
"Please don't talk to me like that"

Be friends with boys?
I ran into cattiness so much as a teenager that boys were my main friends. Not in an 'I think you're cute" way, but in an "I can talk to you and you won't turn on me" way. It's a habit I still have in my real life.
My daughter is the same way. She got burned so often by girls she considered friends that her closest friends now are male.
It's not that I wouldn't *want* to be friends with girls - just that I'm gun-shy.
This is the end of the thread.
