I will pray for you both Lexy. I can relate very well to what you are feeling. It's working with kids and wanting to help them that has inspired me to go back to college. He's lucky to have such a caring therapist and I have not a doubt in my mind that you will see him through whatever is coming his way. Love ya, Mrs. C

Well... you could learn to stand on your head while looking in a mirror... Of course if they fall down over your eyes, it defeats the purpose. (Just trying to think positive.)

You can park it on my shoulder for a bit. It seems to not want to be asleep, so it's available. :(
I'm soryr you had such a tough day. You sound very caring and empathetic. It's really tough working with people who are suffering sometimes without taking on some of it yourself.
Please take extra gentle care.
You sound like a lovely lady.

Dear ((((Lexy)))) Are you a nurse? Doctor? How lucky that boy is to be your patient. My shoulder's not very big but you can have it to cry on for as long as you want. Not only do I sympathize with you, I empathize too. I'm a nurse and sometimes feel the burdens my patients go through. You sound like a wonderful person.

Hi Lexy. I'll add your patient to my prayer list tonight. I always do this in the shower. I feel so sad in my heart that kids suffer so much in the world. What makes it hard for adults is that we can't be all powerful and fix everything. Wouldn't it be nice to have a magic wand and make everything o.k.?
You must be very special to get so involved with the kids you work with. I am a 3rd grade teacher, and I feel like I pour my heart and soul into those kids when they are my students. So, good luck to your patient and to you - a very caring and giving person, Calico Cat

Hey teachers...As from experience with child abuse..mostly mental but also physical and sexual...please if you can help please help look for the signs..look for the potential in these children...I was always joking and laughing about everything got into trouble a lot nothing major just needed the attention but there were a couple of teachers there that knew my potential and they just let me know they were there and told me that I was a good person..I went on and I didnt always find compasionate teachers to help me through and ended up leaving school at 16 to go into a abusive relationship and then a marriage..I was lucky because of the couple of teachers that did tell me I was worth something I always remembered them..always..I finally left the abusive marriage went back to school got my GED and took some college courses and made a life for my daughter and myself and am married for many years to a wonderful husband...most of you know my story..I have since written letters to these teachers that made a difference in my life...I mailed them and just wanted them to know..it wasnt like they spent a lot of time but the time that they did spend on me made a world of difference...just to let you teachers and lexy and anyone else that helps out children it does make a difference..I take every oportunity to show a child how much they are worth in this world and that they are loved...
Anyway...Hope everyone is going good..I'm feeling pretty good still on the 17.5 lex and doing the therapy EMDR with the dr hottie hahaha...and couldnt couldnt couldnt have made it through without each and every one of you angels..I thank god every day for you...so newbies stick with it you couldnt be in a better place...your fellow yoyo...Mystic

Hey Ya'll,
Thanks so much for all your kind words and support. Today was really rough, I am so tired that my skin actually hurts. I am debating on trying to go work out or go to the tanning bed but right now I just want to sit. I know that I did the right thing but I think that this little kid will forever hate social workers. I know I made the right decision and that hopefully one day the he will understand why I did what I had to do. Thank you all so much, you really helpped me though today.

Mystic, Thanks for that wonderful post. Alot of us who work with kids need to hear that we do make a difference. You don't always see the results of your dedication. I personally am drawn to the troubled child more than any other and its such a great feeling to know that I am doing something worth while. You have made yourself into a caring and compassionate person...and a great friend. Love ya, Mrs. C

Lexy, sometimes love hurts and what's best for us isn't always clear. You are the adult and that means sometimes having to make tough decisions that a child cannot understand. But someday that child will realize that you had his best interests at heart. Keep up the good work, I'm proud of you. Mrs. C

Hey Yo Yo's, I just posted a message on the babble site too. I had a really bad day today. It seems that my OCD is back. I spent every spare minute today worrying about my gland in my neck. Feeling it and obsessing over it. Feeling hopeless that something is terribly wrong with me but not even sure if the gland is even swollen. It is very small and I am probably making it worse by probing it constantly. I honestly cannot control the urge to check it every spare minute. Have any of you had experiences like this. This is why I am on Lexapro in the first place. Sorry to bother you all with this and you must think I am totally nuts. I feel totally nuts believe me. I have noone else to share this with and it really helps to get it out. I hope that you guys still want me to be a yo yo. I am really scared right now that I am always going to think I have some disease and I will never just be happy. Mrs. C

hi Sexylexy,
I'm sorry you had a bad day. The empathy that makes you sad for this patient also makes you the kind of person that is well-loved by patients! I am thinking kind thoughts and sending them your way.JenStar
P.S. - I really respect that you honor the patient-client confidentiality. See, just one MORE reason why you're so good at your job! :)

hi guys,
Can I apply for yo-yo membership? Can I be added to the waiting list in case a spot opens up? :) I haven't joined these posts in a while but I read them and think you guys are all very cool and fun.Mrs. C -- naturally I, a queen of worriers, have worried about glands. Evil, vicious little glands that are plotting to destroy me. (Not really...I think...!)
I know there's nothing I can say to convince you that you DON'T have an issue. But I'll say it anyway: There is nothing wrong with the gland! Nothing BAD, anyway. If you really feel it's enlarged, is it possible that you have a thyroid condition (this is not life-threatening, which I'm sure you know) or a cold/flu? Maybe you're just feeling your neck for the first time in a long time and it always feels kind of 'bumpy' but you're getting worked up over it? (This is something I do often.)
Is there anything else going on that might make you more stressed lately?
I hope you feel less OCD-ish soon. I'm thinking of you!

JenStar,
Ordinarily you would have the usual series of forms to fill out and the intensive interviewing process to determine if you meet the stringent requirements of the Yo-Yo Sistahood... but if Mystic says it's official, we bypass all of the formalities. Welcome!

Hey Mrs. C,
Do not worry about your gland. You will be just fine. One of my paitents has OCD and it is such a horrible disease. Its almost as if this person is trapped in their mind. I was wondering if you had ever tried Luvox? Also I am wondering if you have ever thought of a mood stablelizer, such as Lamatical which could help even out some of that obsessing, you may even want to look into Respridol (sp) It is labeled as an anti-psychotic but has a lot of calming properties, we give it to some of our kids and it helps "take the edge off". Of course, I am not a meds expert just know what all my clients are on...Good luck, we all love you and are pulling for you!!
