I started taking Effexor end of January when the previous antidepresssant (Athymil) only had a sedative effect. It took me nearly 5 months to get over my depression (which, during previous depression episodes took only 3 months). There was a waning period of 2 weeks approx. from 150 mg down to 100 and then 0. I stopped briskly then because a manic period set in. This manic episode (I have a bipolar disorder) gets quite heavy now. A consumer defense magazine just published that like Prozac, Effexor tends to push depressed people to a suicidial act, which I fear. Is it true that there are such effects with Effexor ? As for the side effects I suffered very much from sweating and dry mouth (cured thanks to Donalis). As a whole I didn't feel much well on Effexor and I preferred other antidepressants.
