Lexy - this is too funny. My current husband and my ex are both Geminis (born 1 year & 3 days apart!). And my daughter is a Gemini as well! They are changeable creatures, I think my ex is bi-polar so that is taking it to the extreme!! Anyway, no matter what mood he's in or what he's doing, as long as he keeps me in the forefront I do okay!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hey Ya'll

Cindy - a personal question, and getting off the zodiac subject, if you don't want to answer I'll understand. How did you know you were bi-polar or rather what made you go in to be diagnosed? Did you suspect it and how old were you when you noticed symptoms (in looking back now I mean)?
Since my ex-husband is probably bi-polar, I am nervous about my 8 year old daughter who I think is already exhibiting some signs - but I may just be oversensitive and seeing things! If there's a way to help her now I'd like to do it!
~ Lynne

I am a Gemini. Yes I change my mind alot. Funny, My family, friends, and myself always joked about me being two different people - my Gemini twins! I found out Im Bi-polar.

Mrs. C. - You are too funny! I think puffy hair bridges the gap between all zodiac signs! I have very puffed up hair right now. I've tried a million products too. I found this spray by the Aussie brand - it's in a purple bottle. I can't remember what it's called, but it was with all their products at Wal-Mart. It has worked pretty well :-)

Not that anybody asked but humidity makes my hair puffy! I hate it! Mrs. C

Hey Lynne,
Just a little bit of info that I can share about Bi-polar in children. Bi-polar disorder is very hard to diagnose in children because of the their tendencies to hyper activity and moodiness anyway. A lot of times in children the manic episode looks like severe irritation/aggitation. A lot of times they do not have a typical "manic" attack. Of course you also have to look for depressive episodes. When you say signs and symptoms what do you mean... I have some info I could email you if you would like. Just let me know. Have a great day.

I never heard of the Japanese thing, sounds interesting! I'll have to try the Rusk products. My problem is that my hair is frizzy/puffy but my scalp gets too oily so I can't use too many products. Send me a picture - I want to see your hair and to see what you look like :-) Ldavis at cmsstl dot com

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mrs.C,
> Living down in Mississippi we know A LOT about humidity. My hair is natrually curly...like REALLLLLLLLY curly. I get that Japanese Thermal Reconstructioning process done like once or twice a year. Thats when you go and they hair dresser spends about 5 hours burning silk into your hair and somehow it makes it straight, shiny and small without doing much damage. I used to spend 45 miniutes trying to blow and straighten out my hair but after doing that it take 10... oh the blessed sleep I get!!! Well, hope you have a great night...Rusk Sheer Brilliance is a wonderful product to add shine and cut down poofy... I usually use that then blow dry, then flat iron with my little ceramic iron, then spray with a finishing shine spray...like straight sexy hair or Rush Str8. They are great... if you want a picture of me so you can see the results just let me know, I can email you one!!!

GG - That's a really good summary and just how both my husbands are: they can't finish one thing before they move on to another - too many ideas floating around and just have to get to that next thing! Sometimes it is easier to take someone's personality if you know it's just their "type" - not that they are malevolently trying to mess with your mind (or the cleanliness of your house which is the direct way his personality impacts me!!!). Thanks :-)

Lexy - Thank you for your response! She gets very hyper in her language - talking very fast and repeating the same bits of information over and over, then she jumps to another topic. It's like she has all this information inside of her that she needs to spill out quickly - as if her time to talk will run out. She's my only child and has my ear all the time, so I hope she doesn't feel like there's a time limit on my listening! She can't sit still for any length of time (altho she stays in her seat at school) - she hops up from the dinner table constantly.
She has down periods where she seems like she's almost looking for something to be sad about - she'll start talking about this good friend of hers who she has the typical grade school love/hate relationship - they're fighting one day and best friends the next. She will look really sad and start crying about it. My grandpa died last year and she was VERY close to him, saw him every week. I'll ask her what's wrong and she'll say she misses grandpa.
Anyway, some of it just doesn't seem right. I think she has attention problems and I'm taking her to the pedi. for evaluation. She's been put in the remedial reading group for next year - not because she can't read, but she has comprehension troubles. From what I can tell, it's that she can't stick through the story long enough to remember it.
Probably lots of things going on, but if you have any info. you can email, that would be great! I guess I'm not looking for a diagnosis particularly, but want to look at her behaviors, see how they are affecting her ability to learn and socialize and work with her to change or modify some of them or just give her coping strategies for school.
Sorry for the long post, but with you being a therapist, I'm sort of taking advantage :-) My email is LDavis at cmsstl dot com.
Thanks,
~ Lynne

I have a 13 year old boy who is now starting to really be interested in the whole girlfriend/boyfriend scene and let me tell you it is scary for me, so I know with girls it has to be even more scarier.
What is it with this generation? I was never into boys like that at 13. It's crazy....so I just try to keep the reigns a little tight and pray.

LynneDa,
Maybe I should introduce you to my husband, and you can swap gemini stories. (sigh) I think cleanliness is something that is affected by my style as well. Or maybe I have ADD. I start doing one project, like straightening up and dusting the office, and then get distracted by something else that I see needs doing. Soon I am bored in the office and I have switched to the other thing.Sometimes my hubby gently gets me back on task. He's a dear.
Take care, and extra patience to you!

Good luck with your daughter. Mine are younger, but I see the future and it is almost here! I know you have to tread lightly but firmly and that is oh so difficult. I've said a prayer for you and for her!
