Mrs. C. - I agree with Vandy. I have a degree in journalism that I sort of use, but really want to be a special ed teacher. I started my special ed degree back in the early 90s but quit when I had my daughter and got divorced. Once she's older I plan to go back and finish that degree! I figure I'll be 50 whether I have it or not, so why not try to get it :-). There will always be a need for special ed teachers & counselors!!

Please don't fret. I promise it won't help you feel any better. I also know it's not likely that you'll hear me but it won't keep me from trying to tell you what I hope you will understand. "When" questions are not really answerable except by fortune tellers and I believe them to be mistaken at best and liars at worst. I can swear to the following and its the best I can do. You will bring an end to the anxiety yourself. You will be very proud that you've done it. You are the only one who can help you. I can love you and sympathize and I do. I can support you and pray for you and I do. I can cheer for you and scold you when it's necessary and I will but you're the only person who can save you. I will tell you some things you can try and I'm sure it will make Dr. Bob happy at the same time. I'm reading "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" by Dr. Richard Carlson. It says things we all need to hear, especially those of us who are anxious or depressed. It's cheap, too! But it warms the soul and makes you feal better when you are anxious or depressed if you let it.

Just have faith. It's something that will really help. And it's something you can do for yourself. If it does any good, remember we are all here for you. And you never need apologize for your cry for help. We thank you for loving and trusting us enough to share it.

LynneDa,
Oh my gosh! You just made me cry. I am so excited for you. That story was so inspiring. I know how you mean, I do not think I will ever be "the old me" again but I do hope to get to a place where I am comfortable, happy and know who I am. I have been changed by this experience and used to be really resentful, I know now that it is just a painful growing experience. I cannot wait till the day that I wake up and sigh because I am not having to struggle and fight as hard. I know this will happen and I am working my way there. You did it girl! Thanks so much!!!
God Bless,
Lexy
PS...My boyfriend and I have already decided we are going to play an early Aprils fool on our families and call them from Vegas to tell them we are married. However, when the big day really comes, I want to be able to enjoy it to the fullest so we are taking our time and getting back to "us". I think this has been as hard on him as it has on me!!

HI! I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to post yesterday. Had a crzay day! Just very busy with life! I actually feel pretty good! I have a little anxiety when I wake up in the morning and feel a little jittery too. But nothing near as bad as when I first began lex. I also have had a hard time getting up in the morning and feel kinda sleepy throughout the day. It's that old "wired but tired" feeling I experienced in the beginning. It's a very weird feeling let me tell ya but manageable. I also have had some really vivid dreams the past 2 nights. All and all I am doing good and looking forward to feeling even better. Thanks to all of you for your concern, it means the world to me. Mystic, I am so happy to hear that you are starting to see improvement! YIPPIE! You are on your way girl! Don't be too discouraged if there are still some bad days here and there. That's just part of the process.

Bye for now. Mrs. C

It looks like you can get here through Google, too, try "simus redirected". Or you can bookmark one of the posts here, do you know how to bookmark web pages?

I understand it's comforting, and that's one of the goals of this site, after all, but it's easier for other people to find information about medication there if lots of general support posts aren't mixed in.

It's not bad to want to stay connected. But I think you could do that here, too. Plus if you click on "Psycho-Social-Babble" at either the top or the bottom of this page, you'll see that lots of other great posters are already here, and it might be interesting to meet them, too...

Sorry about the anxiety. Getting used to something different is a transition, but I do think it'll work out. Thanks for your patience,

Bob

Mystic, I just went up to 15mg yesterday. I feel about like I did when I first started with the 10mg - kind of spacey and headachy. I take Lorazepam to help me sleep, and I had to go up from 1mg to 1.5mg last night.

I think some of my anxiety is coming from not knowing where everybody went. I got to the social site by clicking on the link in one of Dr. Bob's re-directs. I have posted there, but no responses yet. I hope we all find each other soon! I am glad you are still around. jlynne

Just wanted to thank everyone for sharing their side effects on Lexapro with me...it totally helps knowing that other have been or still are going through this.

It's especially hard to open up to people in my graduate program, everyone seems to have everything so together, while I feel myself unraveling at the seams. I've been daunting a mask these last few months, smiling and acting calm and collected in my classes, but I have felt somewhat of a release these last few days, posting here and opening up to a few friends in person.

It's like I'm afraid for people to see my flaws, my weaknesses, but I'm told that others will see me more as human, and less as an object of perfection.

So thanks everyone for listening, and writing, mystic, ms. c, Bob Yuma, want info...and everyone else. It's helped so much!

Hello Kate..I think that we can all say we have that problem...You wouldnt believe how many would never even in a million years suspect that I have this problem..In fact one of the patients was asking why I had lost so much weight and I told her that I had been sick and that I had been depressed and I thought she was going to faint...I am a very friendly..funny..people person that people just take a liking to and I can joke with anyone..which is a curse because you think that you have to always be that way even when you dont feel good and that is hard...but sometimes It can bring you out of yourself and forget...its a catch 22...but I hope that you feel better and that you make it to the other site that we are posting on now because I think we are just supposed to use this one for meds only...Take good care of yourself...Mystic

Hi ladies . . . I found you! I don't see any posts on this thread from 3/14 or 3/15, but hopefully everyone has found this part of the site. I've been away from the computer for a few days and had a lot of catching up to do.

It sounds like some of you had varying degrees of good & bad days last weekend. Keep in mind that recovery is a jagged line, but it is a line always going uphill! You have to wait a week or a month then look back to assess the sum total of that space of time to really evaluate if it's working! In the meantime, keep the faith and keep addressing the individual symptoms - like insomnia and/or anxiety - ask for help to work through those moments, hours or days.

Mystic, did you decide to up to 15 mgs yet? Emily, how are you feeling today? Mrs. C., you sound wonderful as always, I'm so glad you found a therapist. Do you like her/him?

It is amazing how many people struggle with depression or other mental illnesses - and are able to put on a happy, public face! Is it a tribute to the strength of human nature or just sad that we feel we are forced to do it?!? I guess it depends on the degree to which you force yourself.

When I started talking about it at work a bit, I found that 3 women in my dept. (women I thought I knew well and have worked with for over 15 years) have been on an anti-depressant at one time in their adult life. I didn't feel so all alone then - they are all over 50 and I'm 40, so they are now my "mentors" through this stage of my life!

Please everyone, hang in there and keep looking for the big picture. Mystic, you sound so much better than you did a week or so ago, I hope it reflects how you are feeling! Whew, this is long, sorry!

Take care & God bless!
