Well, I ahve had the diganoses of Borderline Personality Disorder for a few years now. But, over the past 6 months or so I ahve improved SO much.. I am still very depressed, but have managed to control and cope with all the other stuff that comes with BPD. I have alot of contactw ith other BPD people, and have come to think that maybe I really don't match the criteria anymore.
So, at my psychiatrist appointment today, I bought this subject up, and he agreed with me that I no longer match criteria!! Yay!! He says we have to have a formal case meeting on it (set for 2nd September) but he is quite confident I will have the diagnoses removed! This makes me realise just how far I have managed to come.. its been really hard work, but I've done the work, and its really showing these days. I'm actually pretty damned proud of myself *grins*
As an aside.. I do alot of work for a group in the UK for people with BPD. It started out 3 years ago as a small Yahoo group, and has grown and grown. We are in the process of applying for charity status.
We work hard to bring the issue of BPD up, and remove the stigma from it, and also try to improve services for people with BPD. We will be setting up our first crisis house shortly (in Cumbria) that will provide a safe house for people with BPD to stay, when in a crisis, for up to 4 nights.
We are also involved in the setitng up of the first masters degree programme for Personality Disorders, (not people suffering, those studying, such as psychologists etc), and also two of us are on a government committee for the new Policy Guidelines and training for PD's.
On top of this we have a web site full of info (new info being added all the time) and have a number of Yahoo groups now.. the main two being one for people who are suffering badly with BPD, and one for those of us who are getting better and managing our symptoms.
So.. a quick plug for Borderline UK.. http://www.BorderlineUK.co.uk
So if theres anyone here with BPD, and are int he UK, please come and visit usNikki x

That is absolutely fabulous, Nikki. On so many levels! Not only have you gotten validation for all the hard work you've done for yourself. But you've also got so much to be proud of for what you've done for others!
I'll have to visit that site.

As a BPD, I am very proud of what you have accomplished personally. That was really hard work, but you did it.
And all the outreach stuff is so needed. Good for you! I'll check out the site.
