You guys,
I _have_ to finish about four papers by the end of the month. These are totally easy and I totally have the time.
This is work I've put off for a year, from when I was sick a year ago and took incompletes at school.
If I want to go back in the fall, and avoid certain negative consequences, I really have to do the work NOW.
Most of why I haven't done it by now is completely the embarrassment for not having done it sooner.
Can you guys send me posts kickin' me in the butt?

....KICK...KICK....Now get your butt busy and do those papers!! Imagine the relief you'll feel when you can say "FINISHED"!!!! You'll sleep better and be able to relax and not feel guilty everytime you turn on the t.v. or go out. So sharpen those pencils and open those books and get your butt busy!!! Or you'll be grounded until your 88 years old. DO YOU HEAR ME!! (hows that for butt kickin' ??) Gosh I sound just like my mom!

There are 17 days until the end of the month (well, until that Friday) - if you won't work on weekends there are 13.
That gives you 4 (or 3) days for each paper.
Paper #1 due 5/17
Paper #2 due 5/21
Paper #3 due 5/25
Paper #4 due 5/29That gives you 5/30 for emergencies!
Feel better? Now you only have one paper to do right now!

Hi there,
I'm a serious procrastinator full of self-loathing/self-recrimination about all the unfinished items on my "To Do" list.
HOWEVER, every time I can take the yellow highlighter and cross out one of those items I feel a great sense of accomplishment (with the right combination of medications I seem to be able to actually pick up the highlighter).
Sometimes the smallest tasks can be just as daunting as the larger ones (example, my son asked to mend one of his t-shirts - a ten minute job that I put off for a couple of weeks until I finally just sat down on the closet floor after everyone had gone to bed and did it - like you said - out of the embarrassment of not doing it sooner . . . ).
Someone here made a great suggestion of "due dates" for each paper with a breathing day before the 31st. I liked that idea and thought about giving myself due dates on some of the older items on my list.
So, from one procrastinator to another - onward and upward! After four strokes of the yellow highlighter you'll feel so relieved. Think about it! The incredible lightness of . . . doing!
In honor of your papers (and in an effort to not feel like too much of a hypocrite by writing a pep talk about getting things done) I will try to get four "biggies" crossed off my list by Friday (including a decision about dealing with our uninvited resident pigeons and calling the ant man - my personal sermon on vermin).
Here's to a communal spirit of crossing four things off of life's "to do" list.
GOOD LUCK!
Lee
p.s. Dr. Phil (who I've only watched twice) wouldn't agree - but how about some kind of reward for yourself on June 1?
This is the end of the thread.
